Do you agree with the above statement?

my boss just told me (we're good friends) that because i've been angry lately (mainly because its nearly holidays, and i haven't had a break in a long time) that because i'm used to him now (even tho i've known him for like 3 years) that my TRUE self is coming out.

But i'm not like this to people i've known for longer than him, its just stressful at work at the moment.

what do you all think, and what can i say to him to show him i still respect him etc?

Since you are so close to him, then just tell him that your TRUE SELF needs a break, please, and I hope he gives you a Christmas bonus.

Just talk to him. Tell him about the stress you're under. No two people get along perfectly 100% of the time. It's human nature. We are human. Tell him you need a break. The TRUE self remark was unfair on his behalf.
Be calm when you talk to him. You just want to clear the air w/ him after all not agrue. Take a deep breath before you go to his office. If he's a sensible guy he should see your point of view and hopefully give you some R&R too....:)

It is a stressful time of year, but only if you allow it to be so. You really can choose to be happy at work or at home or even driving in traffic. Sure, there are some times when circumstances make us sad or mad, but you have a choice as to how to handle those situations. Choose to be happy. Put a smile on your face and in your voice. Be kind to those you meet, even if they are not kind to you. It's really not that hard. You just have to understand that the other people who are in a bad mood ore just making themselves miserable and would like to bring you down with them. Don't allow it.

Never consider your boss a friend or you will be sorry, and don't let him mess with your head like that. Just make an effort to be more respectful.

Say , No, my true self has always been out. You have just had the time to make a personal judgment about it.

Its INAPPROPRIATE for your boss to make a comment like that.

Friends or not, friendship has its place OUTSIDE OF WORK. At work, you have a DIFFERENT RELATIONSHIP defined by ROLES and your BOSSes ROLE is as your BOSS and its HIGHLY inappropriate for him to say that to you as an EMPLOYEE.

Its not up to you to show him you respect him, its CLEAR that he doesnt respect you if he makes comments like that.
