Okay, so I've REALLY liked this kid named Joey for over a year now. We used to be sorta-kind friends, but we're not anymore, because a conflict that came up last year. He said he hated me after that.

I just recently started saying "hi" again to him in the halls (We haven't talked since last year), to see if the months that have gone by have been long enough for him to fogive me for what I did.

There's also a girl that's a grade younger than us, Vanessa, and she likes him. He knows that she does, but he kind of sent off a vibe that showed he was annoyed by her.

Here's my problem: My friend Quinlan is friends with him, and today in one of their classes, (She told me about this later on), he came up to her and was like, "I have special news! :]"

(DO NOT ANSWER YET. I'm continuing the story in the Edit section of this question because I'm starting to run out of room. So wait until you see my continuation under this question. Thanks.)

And she asked what, and he said, "Well, Vanessa likes me and I kinda like her back." She asked why that was of any signifigance to her, and he said, "Well now you can tell Anna [me] to stop liking me."

But the thing he doesn't get is that I /can't/ stop liking him. I never chose to in the first place. Either way after she told me what he said, it made me think. I had already planned to give him a Christmas card later that day to be nice, but I wasn't sure if I should do that still because of what he said earlier and the fact that he knew that I liked him.

Obviously, I'm at home now and the day is over. I'm not going to say what I ended up doing, because I want to know what all of you out there think I should have done. Let's assume that I'm still at school. What should I do? Give him the present anyway? Tell him he's an asshole [lmao]? Tell him I like someone else? Or a different option.

Wow...sounds complicated. Well, I'm only in high school, but I can allow what wonderful knowledge that I have gained over the years to be lent to you. Good luck.

First off, the guy came over and told a mutual friend about a girl he liked with the obvious knowledge that it will get back to you. He dragged a neutral friend into a conflict, so he gets a point off. He also announced that he liked this girl, bragging of sorts. Another point off. He concluded with the fact that he "kind" of liked the girl, which means he is using her to get back at you more than anything, Another point is gone.

If he can't forgive you, even if you apologized (I'm assuming if it was your fault, then you did) then he doesn't deserve you. That's my own personal belief. He's exploiting a younger girl to make you jealous, so obviously he has some self-confidence issues.

Personally? I'd give him the card to show him you're the "better" person - but make it known that it's for friends only. Then I would forget him. You could do so much better.
