When Jesus prayed to God before his death, it says that he sweat drops of blood. I believe that Jesus was under such hard stress and concentration that he actually did that. But someone told me that he didn't. That he just sweat 'like' blood.
I guess I'm just asking someone's opion on this. Did Jesus really sweat blood? And if you don't think he did, what does the Bible mean?

the August 30, 1952, issue of Science News Letter reported: “Some people really do seem to ‘sweat blood’. The red color in their sweat comes from a pigment produced by their saprocrine glands. These skin glands normally exude unnoticeable quantities of milky white fluid, but sometimes they secrete a pigment, or dye, into the normally colorless fluid. When the perspiration dries, the pigment remains and attracts attention. . . . Sweating red, or any other color, is known as chromidrosis. Some cases obviously are caused by chemicals or drugs taken into the body. For hundreds of years it has been known that workers in copper mines may have green sweat, and that patients may show red sweat after taking certain medicines. In these instances, however, sweating over the entire body is colored, and the external origin of the color has long been apparent. The type of chromidrosis that remained unexplained until now is limited to small patches on the body. It usually occurs in the armpits, but may occur anywhere on the skin. It is seen only in adults, often in response to emotions. The sweat may be green, blue, black, yellow, brown or blood-red. In the latter case the condition has sometimes been regarded literally by laymen as ‘sweating blood’.”

Hi Sara Cares. The Bible say 'like great drops of blood' The verse you're referring to is Luke 22:44:

"And being in agony, He prayed more earnestly. Then His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground."

Christ did not actually sweat drops of blood; He sweat profusely. The Lord was laboring. He was enduring the wrath of God; He was laboring for the salvation of believers.

The Old Testament foreshadowed the salvation work of the Lord: When a priest went int the temple to minister, he was not allowed to wear a woolen garment or any clothing that would cause him to sweat. Sweat denotes work, and the work of salvation was Christ's alone. The priests represented the atoning work of Jesus, but only Christ could do the work. Ezekiel 44:17-18 teaches:

"When they enter the gates of the inner court, they are to wear linen clothes; they must not wear any woolen garment while ministering at the gates of the inner court or inside the temple. 18 They are to wear linen turbans on their heads and linen undergarments around their waists. They must not wear anything that makes them perspire."

I don't know exactly what the bible intends to say on this matter, so I am prepared to accept a number of possibilities.

One interesting possibility is a lunar eclipse, which took place on holy Thursday evening, which would have turned the full moon to a blood red color.

That would have been eerie enough, as a heavenly sign of the next day's events, but it would also have made drops of sweat LOOK like drops of blood!

It is possible to sweat blood. And since the Bible said Jesus did that, then it is so.

Yes HE did

Luke 22:44 And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.
