There is no official monatary exchange rate for the Iraqi Dinar to my knowledge. When I was there in 2003 there were two types of Dinars, one that was produced in Iraq (and massivly counterfieted, making its value very low) and one I believe was produced in Switzerland. Both had Saddams face on there somewhere but the demoninations were vastly different and it was commonly understood by the Iraqis what the value of each was. The common Iraqi dinar denomination was 250dn and with a stack of dinars about 3 inches thick you could buy a coke... maybe... March - May 2003 the approximate exchange rate was 100,000 DN to $1 U.S. As things started to settle down a bit right after the war the Rate came down to about 30,000 Dn /$1. US.... Now if memory serves me right it was around Nov. 2003 we bagan operating the "Iraqi Currency Exchange" that's where all the Iraqis basicly traded in all thier old Saddam Dinars for new Iraqi Dinars... It is my understanding that by May 2004 the Saddam Dinars are no longer recognized as currency. So... the real answer depends on a quite a few things... If you have 1,000,000 Saddam Dinars... you might could trade it for a cup of coffee or maybe sell the currency on E-bay as a souviner or something...

The other thing you have to find out is how you got a hold of 1,000,000 Dinar.... There's no legal way to send more than the equevelant value of $10,000 US of any foreign currency without declairing for taxes.... I don't know all the specifics about that either and would advise you to ask who ever "gifted" it to you how they got thier hands on it....

I have no Ideal what the current rate (mind you there is no official exchange rate) is.

How did you get it? Are you in Iraq? It is illegal to take the new Dinar out of Iraq.

Check out the list of casualties. That's all you need to know.
