I had two dry sockets when I had my bottom partially impacted wisdom teeth removed. It was so horrible. First I started with an earache and jaw pain. I thought I had an ear infection but it was a dry socket. I never sucked through a straw, I don't smoke, and I didnt' forcefully spit. I don't know how I got it. So, just be careful for at least a week after you get your tooth pulled out. Rinse GENTLY with warm salt water at least 2x a day. Good luck.

with in 24 hrs. Also they are far more likely to happen w/ extractions on the top. Avoid straws and smoking and you should be fine.
