Christianity is the right way to go. I'm not a great christian or anything, but i know its right. trust me on this. I was baptized this Sunday (DEC 17) and god has been speaking through actions. Also, if you have any doubts the religion is wrong, i recommend the book "the case for faith" written by a non-christian. A good place to read in the bible is the start of the new testament. if you wish to know about damnation, read the book of revelations. you can skip the first couple of chapters because they won't make sense. visit the local church for more info.
for all the people who say that hell is a thing to scare you into religeon, its not. Have you ever lied, stole, curse? That counts as a sin and is punsible by hell. Its not a threat, its a punishment
if you need any help, my e-mail is kaboom326@yahoo.com
Christians will lend you an extended hand if you need anyhelp.
Jesus is waiting for you up there!!

First of all you don't need to be following a religion. Even Jesus came against the religious rulers. You need to be following the God of the Bible. The God of Abraham, Issac and Jacob. And yes, according to scripture of the Bible, if you have not accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, and as the only begotten Son of God, and that He was hung on a cross for your sins, then you will go to hell (not my idea). God doesn't hide from those who sincerely seek Him. Seek and ye shall find, knock and the door will be opened to you. You just need to get in the Word and let the Holy Spirit guide you in the way you should go.

Think this through. What possible reason would a loving God have for sending you (or anyone else) to hell? He gains nothing. The only thing that he wins is negative points for being so judgmental. Would you condemn anyone at all to eternal torture? ANYONE? I wouldn't, and I don't think I could be more forgiving than your God.
Consider the alternative. The idea of hell is a great way to control people. It forces them to fear for their lives only AFTER death, and no one has to take responsibility on this planet if it is not true. It makes sense that the idea hell was introduced by human beings to keep people in line and in their religion.
Give yourself a chance for thinking freely, and I think you'll determine that there is no rational reason for even the existence of hell, much less your turning up there someday.

The reason it seems so many people who aren't feeling "guilty for their sins" are better off is because they are. Your life is truly as you make it, and we as human beings have the ability to change our surroundings and ourselves. The purpose of our lives are to mold ourselves to be the best that we can be, and if we were not making mistakes we would not learn anything. Once you learn not to follow tradition but find knowledge for yourself that makes sense to you, then you will be free and truly blessed. Once you realize you don't need salvation, but have the choice to change yourself- no crutch involved, you'll feel a lot better. The only true form of God is not some hateful, judging deity, more like a guiding hand.

Exactly. So you have all these competing religions telling you that each one is right and the others are wrong, and threatening you with eternal punishment if you make the wrong choice.
Now where does that thought lead you? Does it not lead to the possibility that in fact they are all wrong?
Suppose I go to the market, and there are a group of people selling suits, and each one tells me that the suits *they* are selling are really high quality, but all the other suit sellers are conmen trying to sell me cheap trash. The logical conclusion to come to would be that they are all conmen, and I won't find a good suit there.

Stop worrying about which religion to pick and just be a good, moral person. That is what really matters. I was raised catholic and over time have begin to realize that morality is a common theme in most religions, so you can't go wrong if you are just a good person. Open your mind, explore all religions (even non-chirstian ones) and you will see what is really important.

Dear Texas Toast, the source of your confusion is the fact you have been subjected to Hell fire preaching without understanding of sin and the righteousness of God, and void of the accurate response. let me explain the reasonableness of your sin and Hell.
Would You Consider yourself to be a good person?
Have you ever lied (even once--fibs, white lies, etc.)? Ever stolen (anything--the value is irrelevant)? Jesus said, "Whoever looks upon a woman to lust after her, has committed adultery already with her in his heart." Have you ever looked with lust? If you have said "Yes" to these three questions, by your own admission, you are a lying, thieving, adulterer at heart; and we’ve only looked at three of the Ten Commandments. Sin by definition is not failing to belive, rather "sin is transgression of the Law." therefore if you belive in God or not, that wont save you on the day of Judgement, God has seen every secret sin and every thought of lust, he is a good and Just Judge and therefore because of your trasgression of the Law he must punish you in hell. This However is not the end of the story, God Loved you so much he sent His Son to take our punishment: "God commended His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." He was bruised for our iniquities. Jesus then rose from the dead and defeated death.
Your own so-called “goodness” can’t get you into heaven any more than mine could. Jesus is the only way to Heaven. He is the "Door," the only "mediator." There is salvation in no other name. The Bible says to be saved you must Repent (turn from sin) and plce your faith and trust in Jesus. The Moment you do this God will forgive you ofall sin, past, present and future and you will never ever have to worrie about facing God guilty on Judgement day. here is an important note, Howver scary Hell is, do not, I repeat, do not simply repent and trust Jesus out of fear of hell, rather repent and trust Jesus because he was merciful enough to save you despite your sin. there is a Big difference, you wont be a fear filled convert, but rather a tear filled convert.
God Bless

all religions use the idea of hell to scare you into belief...and whether
they admit it or not...most people choose a religion because of the fear of hell. The ironic thing is...no matter what religion you pick...you will have to believe that those who dont share your belief will spend all of eternity in hell....I dont buy it...and if thats the case...I still happily chose no religion...I would rather burn in hell then believe in something that dooms countless numbers of other people to an eternity of pain.

You have a strange name, Texas Toast, to be talking about hell. You need to realize that Jesus Christ came to this world to save you from hell. If you trust in Jesus, and try to follow Him and confess when you sin, He will stay with you and take you to Heaven. Trust in Jesus, He will see you through all the days of your life. He will remove your sins from you as far as the east is from the west and remember them no more. God Bless and trust the Lord. He loves you

It doesn't work that way. do not be afraid. If you know in your heart that you must find God, you will succeed, because that is God's plan. He will direct your steps, even if you must go through a few religions before the right one settles in for this life.
