No, the Imam I had for a while was a white Convert and he was very knowledgeable man, he moved to Saudi Arabia because he didn't want to raise his daughter here.

You must follow God, not people. If your faith depends on another man or woman, that faith is weak, because people fail, make mistakes, betray us... God doesn't fail EVER, so your faith must depend on your heart and soul, not on another person's acts.
