I assume dromedary since they probably came from Arabia. But if they were from the Orient they were probably bactrians.

Dromedary, most likely, but both were in Persia.

Dromedary would be most historically likely according to scholarly and religiously vased research on that period.

They rode on dromedaries dressed in silk and gold and traveled through the desert guided by a star that shown brighter than any other star in heaven. And they ate dried dates from Egypt and drank bottled water from the mountains of Switzerland. They spoke Arabic and Greek and one of them spoke also Japanese.

Well, traditionally the Wise Men were Zoroastrian Priests who came from Persia, which is modern day Iran. I don't know which kind of camel is more prominent there, but my guess would be Bactrians.
