This is for all the chirstians. Is it rediculous that we now have to say happy hollidays instead of merry chirstmas because some people get "offended". When the original 13 colonies were founded they came over as ALL CHRISTIANS, i think if the other people that are offended should get over it, this was at a time a 100 % chirstian country and look what it became. IM sry im just upset with all of this is it just me that thinks this

I couldn't agree more. While i have been a wiccan for most of my life, I find it confusing, the political correctness were supposed to show for religions we know little about. Christmas is not a fundamental part of my life, but i don't "take offense" if someone wishes me a merry one. I don't think "One nation under God" should be removed from the pledge of allegiance, I don't think they should take "In God We Trust" off of the dollar bill, and so long as your happy with your God... Good. Cause, unless your atheist, and unless I'm mistaken, everyone has a God. The name varies in certain religions, no doubt, but i ... Imma shut up now before i do offend someone. Merry Christmas if that's your thing, Happy new year, and ... PEACE, LOVE & HAPPINESS is universal, and have a great '07.

I agree. It's becoming ridiculous. Even things like white boards and black boards now have to be called 'chalk boards' and we can't sing BA BA black sheep to our kids, now it's BA BA coloured sheep. People are too serious about EVERYTHING. Some just take things way too personally. There are no direct insults or any unpleasant connotations associated with 'Merry Christmas' or any of the other pre mentioned dialogue. So due to a few paranoid people, everyone else has to change a lifetime of using certain words or phrases because of fear of being slung up as a racist or a christian basher. so no. It's not just you.
P.s, I've been saying merry christmas for almost 30 years. I'm not stopping now.

Yes, it is ridiculous. The "politically correct" people are out of line.
I have always told people "Merry Christmas" since I was in school and I will continue to do so.
Nobody has to say "happy holidays" to anyone.

The only time I don't say Merry Christmas is to my friends who aren't Christian, but are of a different religion who don't celebrate Christmas.

By the way, America was never a 100% Christian country and it never will be. Our country has "freedom of religion". It is in the Constitution. Not everyone is Christian, nor should they be.

I agree completely with you. It is ridiculous, twisted, and down right pathetic. I still say Merry Christmas and whom ever doesn't like it can kiss my merry little A**!!. Seems we are losing so much in so many areas. I can really get on my soap box about this issue. Continue to say your Merry Christmas, as for as I know it's not against the law, YET! And by the way, hope you have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

There was a poll recently taken that people prefer to hear Merry Christmas than happy holidays. The poll said that about 90% of the population would rather hear Merry Christmas.

Well, disregarding the fact that many of the original Founders were Deists rather than Christians, I still know exactly where you're coming from. In my view, after seeing years of this kind of nonsense and seeing it only get more and more ridiculous, I can safely draw the conclusion that being "politically correct" is usually being INcorrect.

Gotta love all of these stupid euphemisms people come up with. "Politically correct," which is clearly not. "Progressive," when one wonders what sort of progress they have in mind or are actually making.

I personally think that the 'politically correct thinkers' are way out of line too. That is why you will never see me writing "Merry X-Mas". Though I might say Happy Holidays out of courtesy to my friends who don't celebrate Christmas. And they say 'Merry Christmas' as a courtesy to me.

You don't HAVE to say Happy Holidays; you don't have to say anything you don't want to say. I'm betting you don't know the religious affiliations of everyone you greet, though, and it's certainly possible some of them don't celebrate Christmas. I don't know anyone who would actually be offended by being wished a happy holiday he or she doesn't celebrate. However, I'd think you'd be a bit embarrassed to be the arrogant jerk who thinks everyone ought to be just like you, and screw their feelings if they aren't. Maybe it's just me who feels that way, though.
