Obviously there has always been Windows as an operating system, but Microsoft is changing all the programs to Windows.

Windows Live Search
Windows Live Messenger
Windows Live local
Windows Live Mail
Windows Live Mobile

OMG what's with all this? Why is windows the new thing? Will MSN.com soon be WLN.com (windows live network)?

By the way ... there is also Windows Live Answers! Like Yahoo Answers, but Microsoft style.

Well if they are basically making our whole computer files accessible by signing in ... isn't that a little dangerous because of hackers?

You see, all of Google's stuff is instant and live, while providing the same functionality as Windows' static software (not changing). Because of this, if Google changes a single line of code, all of their "programs" will be instantly updated, while Microsoft has to release an entirely new version.

In essence, Windows Live is Microsoft's feeble attempt to compete with online software giants like Google, and make their (Microsoft's) software sound more "flashy".

As for the MSN question, I seriously doubt it. To many people rely on MSN.com, so changing it to WLN.com would be a bad marketing technique. The branding of MSN may change, but it will probably still be MSN.com

Because this is the future of Microsoft OS and Software... microsoft is working on LIVE programs that you dont have to install on your computer... like LIVE office that will be coming out in the future. and possibly there is some talk of an OS made by Ms that you run online, so any computer u go to, you have all your files and everything with you, just by signing in :)
