PLEASE READ THIS. I POSTED A LOT OF INFORMATION, BUT THEY ARE ALL VALID TO YOUR QUESTION. I HOPE I CAN HELP TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION.

Churches are open to anyone even to Muslims who want to pray in their own way. For example, In Netherlands several Churches are being used by Christians and Muslims immigrate. The same Church that have the service for the Christians are having service for the Muslims. No membership required, and never ever was required. You have been misinformed.

All the money that gets collected are being used for the Church upkeep, and aid many people all over the world, including the Muslims in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Sudan, Egypt, among many more around the world.

The Church doesn't have deep pockets as the Muslims do with the Saudis who spends millions of dollars building Mosques around the World, including th US.
Ever been to the Middle East! take for example Egypt. There are Mosques on almost every corner. Now who do you think pay for those buildings and their upkeep!? if it is not the government, it will be the many people such as those Saudis who fork a lot of money to preach Islam all over the world, and yet the people are living a very poor life.
The Churches are not as priviledge as the Muslims are. There must be a separation between the Church and Government and with that includes the funds that helps support those Churches.

God doesn't need money, but we do, and that is why I along with many Christian give to the Church to help those in need. Just like the Muslims who give to charities to help other Muslims. One of their five pillars is to give to the needy, and so do we, and one of our way of giving is the what we give to the Church.

In Islam as well as Christianity we give and are required to aid those in need. If you need to know about others! all you need to ask. You question is filled with wrong assumption. I hope my answer helped you understand a little better.

Add info:
There are Mosques for the Muslims those for the rich and the poor just as there are churches. There are Mosques that are so beautiful that cost billions of dollars. Who do you think paid for them!? in the Mosques women are separate from the men they pray. In Churches we all pray together side by side. Men, women, children, young, old, poor and wealthy, side by side.

To Summerize:
1) Membership to the Church is free. It has always been free.
2) The Church is opened to anyone. To worship or even just to visit, that is more than I can say about some mosques which refuse to let the non believer in Islam to enter.
3) All people can enter. poor, rich, old, young, men, women, children, No matter what is their faith. All welcome.
4)The Muslim government and rich people pay to build your mosques. The Christian pay for the Churches from their own pocket. who else is it going to do it! the Muslim! I don't thinks so.
The Dome Mosques in Jerusalem is covered with pure gold. The cost was 4 million dollars paid by the late king Hussein of Jordan. The carpet inside is pur persian carpet, donated by the another king.
The silk that covers the Rock in Mecca. Is pure silk. hand stiched by men and women, and takes years to make. paid by the saudi government.
those among many more that tells you how much the muslim people put in money to be able to have those expensive looking mosques, and they are expensive.
5)All the money that is collected helps all those in need including the Muslims all around the world.
6) Money is offered by people to help those in need. It is not mandatory, nor anyone is being forced to pay anything.
7)In the US as it is in many other countries, the Church is being funded by the members and guest who enter them. Unlike the Mosques are being funded by the government and the many rich and the well to do people who donate to build or the up keep of the mosques.

Merry Christmas and Everyday to ALL

Only some churches are like that Most don't care who yo are or how much money you have.Anyone can come in and siti n the frontrow andworship God, even women, which is something mosques don't allow. So, really, Islam has distinct membership laws as well. You have to be MALE to belong. What's up with that?

Well someone paid for the mosque, the land, maintenance, and utilities. Does the government pay for mosques? In the U.S. the government and the church are not connected nor funded.

Who pays for the electricity, telephone and postage at your mosque? Who paid for the building materials? Who will pay for a new roof, when you need one?

Churches in the USA have bills to pay; electricity, paper, stamps, cleaning . . ..

Most Christian denominations pay their ministers. Their ministers, in turn, have gone to college to learn to be a minister, just like you would go to college to learn to be an engineer, doctor or teacher. They spend 40 - 60 hours a week at their task. They counsel the sick, visit the shut-ins, write sermons and, usually, earn their pay. That is a major difference between Christianity and Islam. There are arguments in favor of paid, professional ministers, and arguments in favor of amateur, non-paid ministers.

That is why. I have not said which is right. I have just explained why.

Churches don't usually require money to be a member but ask for donations. Nor to be a member to visit and worship. If you are going to a building to worship someone has to pay the utilities. Money is also used to help those in need of food, clothing, housing, disasters, etc. I donate to my church what little I can to help others.

The Catholic Church helps everyone including poor Muslims. Money is needed to help in the Church's mission to glorify God and to help the poor.

You dont have to pay to go to church, you can give money to the church if you want to, it is called an offering. To help keep the church running and so the pastor or preacher can live the church members are the pastors income and to have electricity and gas and to help the poor like food pantries and so missionaries can go to other countries to tell people about JESUS. you become a member if you like the church, but you dont have to.

As far as im aware, churches dont generally work on a "subscription" based system, with a pay on entry system (goes against " freely you have recived, freely give ")... and as for giving to the poor - dont the majority of all major world religions have that concept?
