Your body is telling you not to eat. Eating food while depressed turns that food into poisons. See this page on fasting to learn more about fasting and depression. Then click on natural healling page for more about depression and fasting.

Weight not really the BIG issue here ,
major nutrient deficiency is ! Start eating some healthy foods now or else suffer the consequences , the deficiency may even be aggravating the depression , keeping you from intelligent choices for moving forward.
Weight gain itself it totally about ingesting more calories than you burn . . . basic math and has nothing to do with hunger or depression . If someone eats excess they will gain weight , regardless of their state of mind .

Yes, the person probably would if it were prolonged not eating. When you don't eat, whether from illness or choice (anorexia), you're metabolism slows down and the body starts to feed off itself. If it's a few days, weight gain...probably not. But, if it's not eating for a prolonged period of time, yes.

Food consumption beyond need is what causes weight gain - not motivation to eat (or not)
So when you regain eating (whether you want to or not) you might gain weight, if you eat enough.
