I just have a hard time dedicating my life and time to God. I totally believe every word of the Bible. But I just can't seem to sit down and crack open a Bible for more than five minutes. And when I pray it's like I'm speaking to a brick wall, or I just start falling asleep or getting distracted in my thoughts. I've always wanted to ask my church leaders for help, but they have this misinterpretation of me as some real dedicated christian, and I feel ashamed to go and destroy this illusion. I always thought they'd just see right through me, but they don't.

Even when I do summon the courage, I don't know what to ask. I know Satan is just putting this in front of me, but I can't seem to get around it.

Now, because I've put it off, It's grow into apathy. Satan's convinced me I don't need God, and I can't help but feel that way. But I just have such a hard time staying focused in my prayers...
I know what I'm doing wrong, but at the same time I can't fix it.

you should tell your church leader exactly this ^ I felt the same as you do...but you certainly need to talk to someone with in the church let Jesus have full control of your life. Don't let Satan destroy you.

I felt the same way for a long time. People love to say...."no matter what you will always have a hole in your heart without god" This is crap...you do not need god to empower yourself. You have the strength within yourself to do and be whatever you want....and you dont need some outdated book to keep you on the right path. Also, take a look at your surrounding...you are struggling for a reason...are your parents religious? How about your mate? Do not let the belief of another cloud your mind...you are your own person....and you must base all of your decisions with this in mind. If you were born in Saudi Arabia you would be having the same struggle now...only about being a muslim...it is because of this notion that I denounce all religions....I also have a huge problem with the "were right and you are wrong" aspect that seems to go hand in hand with all religions. Enough ranting...if you get anything out of this...whether you decide to be an avid Christian or abandon all belief systems...when it comes to this choice...try your hardest to seperate the influence of anyone around you...and make this choice purely based on what YOU feel is best for YOU.

A lot of Christians struggle with this; you are NOT alone! satan knows that prayer is all important in the life of a Christian and so he will try distraction every time! Try praying out loud, and reading your Bible out loud as well; That should also keep the devil away, too! Don't be embarrassed to talk to your preacher about your struggles; if he's anything like what he should be, he's going to understand, and has more than likely faced his own share and MORE of trials himself. God Bless you!

Pray that God would help you and Ill pray for you too Tell your leaders because they know you better than i do. Keep reading the Bible everyday even if it is only for 5 minutes and try again later. Try your best to stay away from any and everything that pulls you away from God. Also try singing songs or hymns that glorify God.
Resist the devil and he will flee from you

God bless you

Perhaps you need to find a way to serve that fits with your interests and talents.

I suggest exploring to find a group that does the things that fit in with your interests and talents.
When you find your gifting, it is much easier! His yoke is light!

Try to hang around people with a positive outlook, and learn from that. If someone is willing to mentor and desciple you, that is great!

If there has been a calling from God, and you haven't followed that, it would be good to follow that calling, or you might be living "in the belly of the whale". Allow God to have that whale spit you out where He wants you, and follow that calling!

BTW, if you can teach, that is the best way to learn. The teacher learns much more than the students! But only if that is one of your giftings.

As you get older, you will find that you acquire more giftings with experience as you try and learn new things.

Get the bible on tape or CD so you can listen to the bible.

Sit and reflect on the good things in life. Don't make it a struggle. If you want to pray, just have a conversation with your God, tell him about your struggle with Satan.

Good luck.

It seems that God wants you to be something other than the "real dedicated christian" that others think youi to be.
You have to be yourself, to God and to other people.
