Obvious things like helping out in retirement homes etc - might not be possible to arrange at short notice.

I've been browsing sites quite a bit - there are many organisations out there needing help. Unfortunately they really need drivers. I dont drive, and getting around at xmas is especially hard. Also they need volunteers for long periods, not just a day or two, and I work/travel 12hrs a day. All my elderly neighbours are a lot richer than me! But I'll keep on looking...

Take care of animals/animal shelters etc.

You can lend at hand at the Humane Society/

Most people are spending time with friends and family and the poor animals get neglected. No one remembers the hungry, lonely and orphaned pets

There is probably a soup kitchen or a homeless shelter in your area. Call them and volunteer to help serve the meals on Christmas day or whatever day you are available to help.

Go to any nursing home and visit with the patients. Some of them have no family and never get any visitors. That is where I plan to spend my Christmas day. Those people are so appreciatie and it will make their day, trust me.

Looking after the homeless is always popular at this time of the year. But if you are wanting to do something different, join up with someone who is trusted by locals and visit some lonely people in your community over the festive period.

If it is not too late to apply, there is an old gentleman that I have known for a few years who is always desperate for help from night-fall on 24.12.06 to daylight on 25.12.06. There is no pay, but there will be loads of cakes and mince pies and fizzy drinks and ale . I have already told him that you are keen to get a Christmas job, so if you decide to take it up,you will have to be sitting on the roof of your house at 6pm next Sunday evening. He`ll pick you up in his `transportation`.Jingle Bells Jingle Bells!

What about a "soup kitchen" ? Feedind the homeless seems like a good one. The salvation army probobly has some details or shelter might be able to point you in the right direction

Christmas time is the easiest time to give back to the community. Do a food drive, help out at a homeless shelter, volunteer at a hospital, make christmas cards & give them to sick children, there is soo much you can do. Good luck!

Wheels on Wheels always needs people
Feeding the homeless/underhoused/poor is alweays a big thing this time of year.
Basically think about what people in need really need this season:

There are loads of people looking for help in giving homeless people some sort of a Christmas - please get in touch with them.

But, then, I've just looked at your profile and you are taking the piss.

Happy Christmas to you.

Pity there are so many who won't be having one, and whom you will not help in any way at all, except by keeping out of their way.
