There is actually a group called People Eating Tasty Animals as well, it's meant as a satirical joke on the above group.

Sorry, no. It means People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. It's an animal advocacy group that is quite vocal and even a bit controversial. They believe, as I do, in fact, that animals should be treated humanely and with kindness. But sometimes PETA people carry things a little too far, by staging demonstrations, etc. Therefore, at times they are not very popular. However, they mean well, and there are many people who do support them monetarily.
