I have naturally copper-colored hair, and I was wanting to darken just a little bit, but not much. Just enough to where it doesn't look so orange sometimes. I read about soaking it in coffee or tea in hot water, and it sounds like a cheap and easy thing I'd be willing to try. If anyone has had any experience in this, how long should I soak it if I was just wanting to darken it a little bit? I'm scared of turning it completely dark brown, which wouldn't really look good on me, I don't think.

Thanks a lot.

Using coffee is a bad idea because the grounds will stuck into your hair. I would reccomend sage!

This treatment can be used to naturally darken the hair. Make an infusion of 1/2 cup of dry sage leaves in 2 cups of boiling water, and steep for 1 hours. The longer it is boiled the darker the rinse will be. Strain, and pour over hair. Leave tea on hair for ½ hour, and rinse. This treatment is an ideal natural treatment to help cover grey hair or darken the hair. Use daily for best results, and utilize weekly for maintenance. Sage is an astringent, and is also used in facial steams and skin conditioners.

GOOD LUCK!!

Well you can do this however it was not really intended for a color treatment. It was to give hair a shiny appearance. If you take a coffee maker and make you a pot of coffee let is cool to warm that won't burn your head. Then get you a pan or big bowl . Wash and condition hair as normal then using a cup pour coffee over the hair several times. Run you hands through your hair from scalp to tip and then rinse with cold water to make sure you get the coffee out or it will be nasty. If you do this for a while it will stain your hair like it does teeth. That might take out some of the redness. You could also use black tea you know just tea that you make for iced teas Lipton's or something. DO NOT USE ORANGE PEKOE it will just stain it a red-Orange tint.

Good Luck
I have blond hair and I use chamomile on mine every once in a while.

I have tried it before,it doesn't make it too dark. You should put it on your hair and sleep with it on (put on a shower cap). Then in the morning, rinse it out, if it looks too dark, use some shampoo and that'll remove some of the coffee that has stained your hair.

If you don't want to leave it overnight, try leaving it on for an hour every day until you get it to your desired shade.

I did this once, and all I ended up with was coffee grounds in my hair. I couldn't tell a difference. My advice to you is to go buy some semi permanent color (washes out in 6 to 12 washes). This is color your hair, and will not stay forever. Good luck!

It might add a small amount of color to your hair..but it will not last and since it is organic, it may smell. I would stick with proven products.. There are several asian brands that are better than the american ones, Available at asian grocery.. Also a very easy fix that my wife uses is just for men..It works great!

If you want something natural that will last longer, I would go with henna. There are lots of henna products available, and people have been using it in their hair in India for thousands of years.
