I have to drink this mixture, and it said to use 60 oz of water and i wanted to know does 60 oz equal to 60 fl oz?

Yes it's the same. Fluid is just a term for liquid, as in 60 oz of liquid. It's the same.

If it says 60 oz of water then yes. But 60 fluid ounces doesn't always mean 60 ounces. Fluid ounces is a measure of volume, while 60 oz could also mean a measure of weight. For instance, a 60 ounce piece of lead would take up the same volume as 60 fluid ounces of water.

Water IS fluid. Of course, a pint is a pound the whole world round!
60 oz is almost 4 pounds, or 1/2 a gallon.

in culinary school, one of our first classes was Culinary math. This type of question came up a lot. The rule of thumb was basically that 60 Fluid Ounces equalls 60 ounces in weight when talking about Water, or anything that flows like water. In this specific case of yours, 60 Fluid Ounces does in fact equal 60 Ounces in weight.

Exactly.. an ounce of fluid is the same weight as an ounce of water.. water is the Specific liquid used to calculate what an ounce is.
So one liquid oz of water would weigh one wieght oz, but one liquid ounce of something else.. maple syrup? oil? may not have the weight of one oz
