I ask this question because in today's society unfornately it seems that people are treated based on apperances( at least that's the way it seems to me). I am treated very poorly by people because they say I look very mean (although I am not upset about anything at all) when I am actually one of the nicest people you will want to ever meet and that's the truth. And also because I am very introverted people also treat me badly like the people on my job and every place else. Because of this, I don't go out at all unless its to work and back home because I can't deal with the constant criticism from people. If you were me what would you do? And serious answers only please. I don't have time anytime for sarcasm.

Ugly is in the eye of the beholder. But you could start by smiling. That almost always works on people who would prejudge you based on your looks. You have to have something to offer. IF you are not physically attractive, you gotta be funny or nice or at least smell good. Something's gotta give!

I think sometimes people aren't very kind to people who are not attractive, but I think an attitude can make or break a person. If you put out the vibe that you are unsure of yourself, or a victim, people seem to pick up on it and the ones that aren't that nice anyways, will take advantage of someone cause they can. The best way to stop all of that stuff, is to stand up, act like you are important (YOU ARE IMPORTANT) and treat people kindly as long as they are kind to you. If they are jerks, walk away. As the Bible says "Never argue with a fool" there is nothing to be gained from talking with a fool.....ever. So why indulge or allow someone to have that behaviour with you? If someone is nasty, sorry you feel the need to take out your frustrations on me and walk away. Shuts them right down! Good luck....I bet you are liked more than you realize!

I don't know that there is anything you could do, I mean most people are very mean and inconsiderate of other peoples feelings. I would just ignore whatever they say (sounds easier said than done, I know), and go on about your day. Don't let the assholes of the world keep you from enjoying your life, it's way too short. Go out, have fun, and when people get to know you and realize that looks don't really matter then you will have the time of your life!!

You are right - most people are very shallow. I am sure you must have some friends that know and love you for who you are. Don't cut yourself off from society because of the people you work with. A lot of churches have "singles" groups that have parties and go on trips, etc. You will find where you belong, but you have to make an effort.

I think no one should treat you badly b/c of your look. The problem is may you didn't show them enough when you really mean! people tend to treat nicer people poorly show them you pride, dignity and confidence don't let any one cross their line with you. I am sorry to say but it doesn't matter how good or bad you look it is all about your attitude the respect you have for your self.

Yes of course. Society judges everyone. Ugly, pretty, fat, thin, tall, short, black, white, etc. But yeah I definently think that people with better looks get treated better. I have a personal experience to prove this. My car died right in the middle of the road at a busy light. And I got out of my car and stood next to it and people were honking all around me but then they realized I was having car problems. A whole truck of fireman were behind me and pushed my car. Two other trucks with men in it drove by and were like "Hey you need some help?" After I was already recieving help from them. But they were pushing my car and this lady behind me let me use her phone and gave me a ride home and she said to me "You know your lucky your pretty so people wanted to help you."

I would definetly care. What you need to do is to be more outgoing. Go up to people and start up conversations. Let them get to see the real you before they can form an opinion based on looks.

Try to change your appearance so you look more cheerful and happy, it's amazing what just changing some colors can do. Try a new hair cut or something too!

don't give up hope!

who cares!,screw them, they don't have to like you! you don't need anybody to be nice to you, start being mean right back.......
or
you can try smiling more often, people like people who smile....

what does looking mean have to do with being ugly?
pretty girls are sometimes the meanest bitchies girls in the world......anyways get a new job at the beginning of the year and try smiling and beign polite but don't take crap from anyone if they are mean to you,you should be mean right back!
Good luck!
