It's really hard telling your parents of a girl/boyfriend the first time, have you talked to them before about what ages you will be allowed to do things at? If not it would be a good time to discuss it. I am the parent of three kids, the oldest one is almost nine, so I am looking forward to this time. But I can tell you this, your parents love you very much, and they want you to grow up, it just takes time for them to adjust. Just remember to act mature when you go to them, and think out exactly what you want to say, so that you sound like you are trying to make an informed decision

At a certain point in the transition from boyhood to manhood, a degree of secrecy develops. You have to start getting used to living your own life, responsibly of course (be a man about it), but also don't feel like you have to share every aspect of your personal exploits with your folks. Over time the ability to keep stuff to yourself will pay off, remember that your life is yours to lead, and also while you're still learning, never be afraid to get advice in private if necessary. You don't know everything, and as long as you're honest (keeping secrets does not hinge on lying but not sharing stuff no one asked you for) you can get some good advice without having to share your life with them.

My BF was in this situation a while ago, he actually got permission to ask me out (he respects their opinions very much, obviously). You should have your parents casually meet her, make it clear to your parents that you like her as a friend, and then, once they are cool with your friendship with her, let them know you and her are more than friends.

Even if you don't do that, tell your parents somehow. This girl would be devastated if she thought you were embarrassed of her or something.

Good luck!!!

My son used to be your age and he tells me everything. It helps you know, if you want some advice from your mother. I really don't like him to date at a young age, but kids nowadays do it anyway with or without parents' permissions. It is a healthy relationship you build with your parents - it makes them feel that you can be trusted and you open up to them.

look im 14 and i also like alot of girls but one time i found the perfect girl, and i wanted to tell my dad and mom but i too felt like an idiot and embarrased. Then one day it sourt of slipped, out of no where i tell my mom that i like this girl in my class. But she didnt look at me wierdly or anything like that, she was happy.
My dad as well. you see fathers want their son to fall in love with a lot of girls untill they meets the right one. And moms just want their son to actually love a girl and care for her without thinking of dirty fantasys. So if u realy love this girl just tell your mom, she will then spread the conversation u had with her to your father then he will come talk to u about it and he will tell u that hes proud of you and will probably even tell you to invite her over for dinner.

P.S. Im just tryin to help a brotha out

omg! this is perfect cuz i have been in that situation before. plus i am the same age as you. anyways, if you have an old notebook or something, if you don't want to tell your parents, just write it in your journal. if you're dating her, just ask your mom or dad would it be okay if i had a girl friend? happy holidays!!

TELL UR PARENTS!!!!!!!!!!! If this girl found out she'd be heartbroken. Tell ur parents, but handle it delicately. Let them no about her and eventually they'll accept it.
