Evolution is a fact and a theory.
We only get angry if an ignorant, unreasonable person asks about obvious things in Evolution.

Reasonable people _don't_ question evolution, just as they don't question gravity.
As for the objection above this:
1. This objection falsely assumes that speciation must happen suddenly when one individual gives rise to an individual of another species. In fact, populations, not individuals, evolve, and most speciation occurs gradually. In one common mode of speciation ("allopatric" speciation), two populations of the same species are split apart geographically. Small changes accumulate in both populations, causing them to be more and more different from each other. Eventually, the differences are great enough that the two populations cannot interbreed when they do get together (Otte and Endler 1989).
It is also possible for speciation to occur without the geographical separation (sympatric speciation; see Diekmann and Doebeli 1999; Kondrashov and Kondrashov 1999; Otte and Endler 1989), but the process is still gradual.
2. Sometimes new species can form suddenly, but this occurs with species that are asexual or hermaphroditic and do not need to find mates.

It seems there's this need, at least with Americans, that there be at least one side of a public discussion such as this one be absolutely sure, whatever the cost, that it is absolutely 100% correct. Which is obviously ridiculous. The only thing that makes evolution a bit more palatable than the wives' tales one gets from your assorted monotheistic religions is that there's this relatively striking evidence of it's authenticity, enough to make its pursuit as a model for understanding ourselves and what's around us, as worthwhile.
Atheism and evolution are mutually exclusive, contrary to what many atheists may say. You just find that so many atheists "believe" in evolution because religion ends up being the obligation to take someone's word for it and leaving it at that; should you care to check things out for yourself, you either get a dry "f**k off" or a session of circular logic which is always surprisingly convenient for those attempting to elucidate the "mysterious ways of the Lord".

The problem is 80% of the people who question evolution aren't half as reasonable as they like to think they are. Many use very shoddy logic. Evolutionists get tired of hearing the same worn out 'arguments' against evolution.
For example : "If evolution really happens, why don't we see monkeys evolving into humans at the zoo?"

Because so many people are very misinformed about evolution. If people asked the equivalent questions about Christianity, you would say they didn't know what they are talking about. Many of the arguments against evolution are flawed because they show a lack of understanding, and the question doesn't even make sense.

Nope, evolution is where all the evidence is. The evidence all contradicts the creation myth. People who are educated in science know this. However, creationist dont read what science has to say on evolution. They read what creationists CLAIM evolutionary theory says. They are reading lies.
And yes, educated people do tend to get pissy when some idiot asks for the thousandth time "Oh yeah? Since we evolved from monkeys, why are there still monkeys?"
Evolution doesn't say that. Creationists think that way. It IS uneducated and idiotic.
LEARN WHAT EVOLUTION ACTUALLY IS BEFORE YOU START TRYING TO CRAP ON IT WITH STUPID RELIGIOUS STUFF.

Reasonable people rarely question evolution on these forums. Usually it's the Religious zealots and Fundies who don't actually understand Evolution, but were told by their priest that it was bad.
They start with a broad generalization like "Why do (all) Atheists..." and then add a false premise and proceed with shaky logic. That they get called names for being idiots is their own fault entirely. They shouldn't be starting arguments about things they absolutely don't understand. As evidenced by the "We were not monkeys!" and "Where are the apemen?" comments. If they asked intelligent questions and were reasonable, there would be no problem.

You've met every Atheist in the world, have you?
The ones who do get angry are probably annoyed at seeing "If we evolved from monkeys, why are there still monkeys?" for the six millionth time. It has nothing to do with weather or not they believe it is true (because it is), it is disbelief that anyone could misunderstand such a relatively simple concept. I'm not saying it's right for people to act abusive, but that's probably where it comes from.

~~~sfumato,,, Apparently in your little world you have no opportunity to expand your Frame of Reference. Expand your horizons by seeking out Intelligent Atheists and engaging them in friendly debate. Take a college course and learn something other than what some clergy is spouting from their Bully Pulpit. Pose an intelligent question in an intelligent manner and you might be surprised from response you get.
No, many of us know the theory of evolution very well. We get understandably upset when people come in here, asking the same questions over and over that could easily be answered by finding out what evolution ACTUALLY says instead of getting their 'science' from church. We've answered these questions hundreds of times, and it seems like no one is even listening.
