It's a symbolic gesture. If you plan on being with him and not date anyone else... then it's good to wear one. This will show that you're happily being his girl!
It's a bad idea to wear it if you don't truly feel like you wanna be with him.
It's similar like how a guy lets his girlfriend wear his letterman's jacket.
Either way, promise rings are not necessary but like I said, it's another symbolic way to express to everyone about your relationship with him.

That is sweet but R U promised 2 him 4 life or just the endurance. My mom gave me 1 after HS 2 B exchange 4 a wedding ring. I kept that promise. That was the most special event n my life & the only promise I could keep as a young female. He thougt it special as well because he was the only man I grew 2 love, marry & give myself 2. Not every relationship will render trinkets that could b confused 4 bad judgment calls.Learn who U R, know who U R dealing with & try 2 b honest w/every1s feelings. What did U promise him & what was he asking of U.?Things 2 think about in life

I think promise rings are a juvenile.
I think there is nothing wrong with a man buying his girlfriend a pretty ring for a gift, but don't call it anything. It makes you sound very High School.
You are either dating, engaged (which means you have a date and are actively planning a wedding), or married. That's it.
(PS: Being engaged without a SET date and actively planning the wedding is just dating with a fancy ring.)

When i was in high school my boyfriend at the time got me a promise ring. Its just a ring letting you know that he wants to be with you and he plans to be with you. Do you really believe in promises? do you not want them to be broken? some people take them more serious then others. Me, if i am promised something i want it to achually happen. my boyfriend of 4 years now just purposed to be about 2 weeks ago!! so that promise ring did mean something to me. It just depends on how you look at things!! good luck!

Promise rings are not intended to be "engagement" rings, so really any ring he buys can be considered a promise ring - which is just a way of saying he loves you and wants you know it (and wants you to stick around without him having to make the full-on committment).

I think it's ridiculous....if your partner want's you in their life, then just get engaged, set the date and get married. What is a "promise" ring promising? Is it to keep the person available to only them or what....is it a cheaper way of getting out of buying the engagement ring......if you love someone and want to be together, just forget about the childish stuff, get serious, make a commitment, don't string a person along with a "promise ring"!
Could be another sales tactic the Jewelery Stores use.!?!

They are fine......if you are under the age of 16. If your older than that, people are going to laugh at you. There is no such thing as being "pre-engaged" or "engaged to be engaged." If you receive a ring without the question "Will you marry me?" and the intent to set a date, it's just jewelry.

it relatively is unquestionably as much as you. i've got considered maximum promise rings interior the $one hundred-$a million,000 selection. What style does your lady buddy like? maximum females like white gold, platinum, often happening gold or silver. particular, you may provide it to her on her birthday. that must be candy. i might say you do no longer ask her father till you get to the engagement ring point. suitable of success to you!

I honestly think promise rings are stupid. I promise to one day to propose to you and get married? Why waste money on a ring when you can just say that?

I dont see how it could be bad.... he wants you to promise yourself to him. If you dont intend on being with him for life, then give the ring back.
