Ima: GREAT question !!! I'm in your corner on this one. I am a Christian and I know God [Jesus] IS in the SAVING business not the "I'll get-em for that" business ! God has created humans with both, opportunity and free choice - basically; the right to be wrong should one decide to. In short, we all have given to us, free moral agency. e.g. If I should decide to walk into a land mined field and get my toes blown off, I have exercised my will to do so. God has a "hands off" policy regarding the affairs of humans unless He decides to intervene and change situations to suit His over-all plan for humans ... that is to "save them all" ! Apart from this, God does not "get" anyone, as He is in the SAVING business not the punishing business !!! Whoever, says God intervenes in the affairs of man to "punish" him / her has either, some very bad theology or is in a dysfunctional religion . It's is all about relationship with Jesus ... not about "do's and don'ts" !!!

I was witness to an unusual punishment; my own, for the smallest infraction, which was this. when my daughter called my name, I did not respond quickly enough, but stayed with my eyes glued to the TV, thinking, "In a minute, its not that important."
In a flash, I was before the Lord in His throne room, and every eye of every being was bent upon me, and it was a weighty gaze. Nobody spoke, for the throne room of God is one of the most peaceful places I've ever been to.
God, enthroned, was a pillar of light, and from Him, everything came, including an angel, who was appointed my punisher. The angel did not hesitate, and no matter what his feelings toward me, simply obeyed God.
From God came the fortitude to accept and withstand this punishment, and everyone in the room, including me, was in agreement with it. I had already bared my back to take it when Jesus and his mother came into the room.
Immediately, all attention was no longer on me, but upon him, and he said, "I'll take it."
I have to admit to you at this point, I was kind of dissapointed, since I was so ready to take the punishment, however, I was incredibly glad that all those eyes were no longer upon me.

The Bible gives us many examples of God punishing people for going against Him; specially in the Old Testament.

It can't be PROVEN.
There are only theories and beliefs but no FACT. Anyone who says different is just plain WRONG and can not follow logic. They can't even accept the fundamental basis of their religion which is that it is based on FAITH, which is not FACT.

Allah/God punishes if violate his rules. If you drink, you can get into an accident, get jailed, get abused, etc. Illegal sex, unwanted pregnancy, diseases, etc. The biggest of course is to not believe in Allah/God, and if you die not believing, only Allah/God knows your fate.

The list is to long to mention here. Although God PUNISHED Cain.
4:11 And now art thou cursed from the earth, which hath opened her mouth to receive thy brother's blood from thy hand;
4:12 When thou tillest the ground, it shall not henceforth yield unto thee her strength; a fugitive and a vagabond shalt thou be in the earth.
4:13 And Cain said unto the LORD, My punishment is greater than I can bear.
4:14 Behold, thou hast driven me out this day from the face of the earth; and from thy face shall I be hid; and I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond in the earth; and it shall come to pass, that every one that findeth me shall slay me.
4:15 And the LORD said unto him, Therefore whosoever slayeth Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And the LORD set a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him.
