I got married last weekend and I'm starting my thank-you cards. For the people who gave money, I have "Thank you for your generious gift at our wedding." How should I finish?

Please excuse the typo. I know that it's spelled 'generous', not 'generious'.

First off, I think it's great you are being so punctual about writing your Thank You's! So many brides wait several weeks and even months under the misconception that "I have a year to do them!" Which is, of course, not true. So anyway, a monetary gift is acknowledged like this:

1. Dear _____, Thank you so much for your generous gift.

2. Joe and I purchased a beautiful set of crystal with it. ( what you bought with the money or what you plan to buy)

3. We hope you enjoyed the wedding and we will see you soon! (reference to seeing the gift giver soon)

4. Love, You

You can make a million variations of this. The only real thing to remember is not to mention the word "money" or "cash" or make any reference as to how much it was, other than to say "generous" . In other words, don't say "Thanks for the 20 bucks!" lol

Aunt Sue,

Thank you for the thoughtfulness of your gift. We are looking forward to starting our lives together and have many plans for our future. The money you have given us will be put to great use with remodeling our home.

We are so happy to have had you share in our wonderful day. Thank you again.

Love,
Kim & Fred

**Make changes (obviously) where needed. Gift givers of money like to know what they have contributed to. It lets them know that you appreciate it so much more than the plant you will eventually kill, or the wine glasses that you will never use!

Thank you so much for your kind and thoughtful gift. As we are staring out our life together there are many items that we need and because of your generosity we will be able to begin completing our new home. Thank you again for your gift and for being a part of our lives!

Let them know what you will or have purchased with the donation. This way the giver knows that you were able to purchase something you really wanted or needed for your new household.
