i've had them for only three days so far and the wire at the back keeps scratching the inside of my cheek, causing sores. two of my friends say i'll get used to it eventually and not even feel it's there..is this true?

I had braces for about 3 years, and I got them off about a year ago...You should eventually get used to it, but at times, your braces can really be irritating. If the wire continues to bother you, you should probably see your orthodontist to get it fixed, or, if you were given wax, you could use that to help cover the wire.

Well, the first few weeks you feel it scratching back and forth against your gums. You should use dental wax--you can buy it at a local pharmacy store, or ask your orthodontist.

But yes, it's true---you eventually don't feel it's there.

JS is right. Sometimes, even in just a few days, your wire can shift and poke out of the tube on your bracket. So call your orthodontist and he/she should be able to fix it for you.

Cover them with wax. The same thing happened to me, actually. It hurt like hell and so I put wax over it and everything was fine, Just, dont sleep with wax in your mouth becuase I woke up in 3 in the worning and I accidently swallowed it! :*(
