No, only patient's suffering from appendicitis need their appendix removed. The condition is generally an acute inflammation of the organ caused by external trauma or infection and, left untreated, may explode and become a lethal condition. Up until recently, many surgeons would remove the appendix without much investigation and would generally remove a healthy appendix. These days, with the increased use of ultrasounds and magnetic resonance images (MRI's), appendix's that are removed are usually in a serious enough condition.
