Pay attention to your surroundings and try to make a subtle joke about it, if she smirks or laughs or giggles, you're good to go my friend.

Unfortunately, the best way to pick up a girl is to have confidence. The best way is to start with a confident look. You need to stand tall, dress appropriate, and keep your freakin' head up. Once you've got that part, start with a glance at her. If a girl meets your glance, don't look away immediately. Try a light smile. If you're in a bar, buy her a drink (not necessary but shows definite interest), if the bartender knows what she's drinking or if she is about to order. The following step is to walk over with confidence. Staring is a bad idea but make sure she knows you've been looking. First thing out of your mouth should be a greeting (e.g. "Hi, I'm , and you are?") If everything has been done right so far, she'll offer you a seat if there's one available. A joke in the first 5 seconds may work occasionally, but most women will think you're just messing around and don't care to be serious, so it's a bad idea. A good ice breaker is actually just getting her involved in something (e.g. pool, darts, or dancing. If you aren't good at any of those, worry not, I'm not either, but you get points just for showing that confidence.) From there, use your own judgement. If a woman is obviously looking at you often with a smile, you're probably doing good, unless it's a fake smile. If she introduces you to her friends who show up, you've made it into her crowd and have little to worry about. Happy hunting.

(I do not guarantee this will work 100% of the time. Women are varied and may like different approaches. This is a more subtle approach than a pick up line, which is great. Acting like you just want to play pool or go dance is a great way to start. The only time it hasn't worked for me is when the girl had a boyfriend, who generally showed up 5 seconds later.)

Women "hate" p/up lines....and we can smell one a mile away. If you're going in for the kill.........nix the eye contact. real real turn off.......let her *eye* you! make your way over.....and do not give her attention right off.......then accidently bump into her; or make up some lame excuse like "did you see a guy around here, yada yada....." like you've lost your friend..........(we love the innocent lost look) Then, smile really big.......keep looking around the room like you're still looking for your friend.......the conversation will pick up or it will go south. That way you don't look like a dolt.

You could even say something.....like........I am NO good at pick up lines.....not that I'm trying to pick you up....eh, that's a plan z trick. which really usually backfires.........nix the pick up lines altogether.......go with the looking for your friend line....*W*

The guy I am dating tried to get me to leave with him by asking to see all of my tattoos. That was way too obvious and cliche so I said "no". He then told me that he was friends with a "band of gambling Asians" and would I like to meet them. This was intriguing enough that it worked. (Of course when we got to his place all of his friends were already asleep. Convieniently.) This was 4 months ago and I've never been happier. I've also since met the gambling Asians. They did exist.
