ensuring my dog remains "polite"?

Question

on xmas im bringing my dog to my grandmas with me-she's still a puppy so she still gets excited and into "mischief"

what are some training tips/ways to ensure that she is polite when i bring her over?

shes pretty well trained-except she gets excited and jumps (but only in the beginning) and sometimes she chews on things(but we're working on that)

as the other person said, leash, pop up kennel, and be consistent. what ever the technique that you use to train your puppy, don't change it. and don't let anyone else change it. i know how family members can be. don't show flexibility at all even if you think that the foul is funny.
if she becomes out of hand, separate her from the activity in a quiet room till she calms down. keep doing that and eventually she will get the idea that her bad behavior is not acceptable.

I agree with the crate ideas - be sure that your puppy likes his crate (feed him in there, put treats in there, etc) - basically follow the directions here:

And request from your family that the instant the puppy starts to jump up, they must turn around. Don't talk to the puppy, don't say "no", or knee him in the chest (some people actually do this!) - just turn around, and the pup will stop jumping up. Remember that dogs will do what's fun for them. If everyone keeps turning around when he jumps up, he'll learn that that bhavior makes fun go away.

well, I'd make sure she's on a leash. I'd pick up a popup inexpensive crate that you can put her in if she does get too excited. I'd take lots of toys, and maybe even purchase a puppy playpen. Puppies can get into very dangerous things, and destroy property when they are in a non-puppy proof home.

Run her, or walk her for 2 hours or so before, it will calm her some by running off the energy, she will respond to you better too.

Take her to obedience classes. That is the best way.
