you have to have a brain in order for it to be washed.

Anything can be considered brainwashing. Teaching your children right from wrong could be construed as brainwashing.
In the strictest sense, Christianity is not really brainwashing as much as it's teaching right from wrong. If it were used for immoral purposes, then perhaps it could be considered brainwashing.
So, to answer your question, no... I don't feel that way. Now Muslimism, on the other hand.....
I'll have to think about that for awhile.

Is this your defense against accepting Jesus Christ as your personal Savior?
Is it your defense for not believing in God?
Is it your defense for living all the lies that you have been brain washed with - say like "evolution" which is a religion that does invoke brainwashing!
I guess you would also consider the teachings that your parents taught you with would also be considered brainwashing?
That which you recieved in school as brainwashing too?
So what makes you the authority on Christianity to make such a blatant claim on the whole?

Every religion that has ever come into existence is brainwashing. They teach you what they claim to be a "right way of life", when in fact, there is no such thing. There is no right way to live. Sink that through your heads. Humans were not born with an instruction manual on how to live their lives. Everybody should read about "The Great Forgetting." It's worth reading, so put down your bibles for a while and look it up.

To be fair, Christianity is a very broad term. A lot of sects, cults , and denominations unfortunately do use brainwashing as a technique to keep members. I don't think I would lump them all together though. What agitates me is the mindlessness of the masses. People believe in any old thing they are told without investigating it first. We all have free will. No one makes us believe or accept ideas or beliefs that we don't want to accept. Unfortunately most people don't have common sense. Tragic really. Great question.

Religion runs a distant second to the power of brainwashing of popular culture.
A proper exposure to God and religion can help to counteract the real brainwashing that popular culture is constantly throwing at all of us in books, movies, TV, songs, advertisements, and even video games.
Popular culture is constantly bombarding us with intensive, not-so-forcible indoctrination, aimed at setting up worldly convictions and attitudes.
Popular culture comes at us from all directions including books, movies, TV, songs, advertisements, video games and even the Internet.
A few of the these immoral values include:
- Lust and Sex (outside of marriage)
- A disrespect for God and religion
- A disrespect for lawful authority
- A disrespect for our human dignity
- Envy, greed and consumerism
- Anger and Violence
- Drugs including smoking and alcohol
- Vanity, outside is more important than inside
- Prejudice and hate
I think that if we expose our children to all this immorality without the moral anchor of God and religion "until they can come to a conclusion of their own" then we would be unwise, irresponsible, and frequently too late.
With love in Christ.

Any religion or organization can be, not just Christianity. Not to say that you shouldn't join any form of organization or religion, but when you do you should never allow anyone to think for you. Go into everything with an open mind, and allow yourself to see things for what they really are. After you have seen what is to be "offered", make an analysis and decide if it is something you want to be a part of. Always use rationality to decide. If you go into anything closed minded then you will automatically shut yourself out to it. I am not speaking on behalf of Christianity. I am speaking on behalf of personal freedom. Any organization that takes away your freedom to make decisions is not good. You are just a shell when you let people think for you.

It is written to renew our (Christian) minds in the Word of God. The truth sets us free.
God washes our hearts and minds with His Word.
Christianity is truly the only faith that really washes us white as snow with redeeming blood. That would include our brains.
I have a problem with the term brainwashing. Because washing is washing out the dirt. Dirt to me is sin mindedness. So, to me, brainwashing is washing out sin mindedness, so its Good.

Feel!? Hell yes. It's much worse than any of the others because it insists that it doesn't indoctrinate or brainwash (same thing, really).

No, I don't. I am a Christian and I am not brainwashed. I still use my head, and think and read and question.

All religion is brainwashing. Generations indoctrinate the next generation in line to believe in fairy tales as truth.
