I'm going to a chuch baptism on the weekend and would like some general information.
Just a a brief outline about their beliefs etc

I went out with one for a while. They don't shop or do much on Sabbath (Saturday) and they usually don't eat meat, drink alcohol, dance or even watch tv. They discourage their kids from reading Harry Potter because it is witchcraft which is the work of the devil. They are big on the imminence of judgement day and believe that even most "Christians" won't be saved at that time because they aren't following the true word of God. A lot of Adventists stockpile food for the event of Armageddon, when there will be no food or water. The one I went out with was a MASSIVE conspiracy theorist - reckoned the Pope was the tool of the devil, the government is watching us etc etc, hated gay people yet strangely wasn't opposed to sex outside of marriage. Go figure.
Mostly SADs are really really friendly and nice and they mostly believe in equality women which is a good thing.
The origin of SAD is that a group of people thought they knew the date for the second coming of Christ, well they were obviously wrong but now they say he was just moving abut in heaven on that day or something. It's weird that the whole religion started with a big misconception but it is still one that is growing worldwide, particularly in the island nations around Australia.

well they eat no meat, but they will eat 'fake' meat made of soy. They believe the only ones to be saved are the ones who follow a saturday sabbath. They have many misconstrued theories of the bible. they think their are aliens. anything crazy they believe. They are totally convinced the pope is the antichrist.
