If I'm looking at the right question, one person with little else to contribute called him "an idiot". Another contributor called him "logically challenged". In most public fora, including this one, that's a pretty darn good rating! (especially in R&S)
Your suspicion is probably accurate. The asker threw up a logistical question about an event in religious history. In the absence of meaningful evidence either way, some frustrated believers resort to verbal violence.

yep its an organised religion thing which the atheists have also jumped on the band wagon, you see it here a lot for a even better response try telling them there is historical evidence the the holy communion ceremony predates christianity by thousands of years thats is also true but you get some reallyy nasty comments if you post that

No. What happens is that internally they are so ashamed of their dogmatic beliefs, that when they encounter a question that TRULY forces them to question their dogma (even if this happens unintentionally), the only way they can react to their self-revulsion, and preserve their delusion, is by projecting their hatred of themselves onto the person or thing that initially caused the feeling, and then denying that they ever felt the feeling.
Projection and denial are two of the best known psychological defense mechanisms.

Name calling is not a nice thing. It does absolutely nothing but make people upset, angry or sad. Why? What's the point? There is no reason to hurt any one else's feelings.

Not sure which question you are referring to but the most common one is used by some to try to say the Bible contradicts itself.
How many of each animal did Noah take on the ark?
2 of each species to re-populate the earth (7 of the fowls of the air.)
AND
7 of the clean beasts to used as food for Noah and the other animals and for sacrifices..
"Of every clean beast thou shalt take to thee by sevens, the male and his female: and of beasts that are not clean by two, the male and his female. " Genesis 7: 2
As for people attacking you here, they attack out of ignorance. I just ignore them.

Yes...this door swings both ways though. I've posed questions to atheists, fair and reasonable questions, and the responses were bleeding with venom.

The flood was regional... that was the world at that time..There is evidence of it in the middle-east. People are so personally attached to their religion that its like a spouse..they will defend him or her to the death...and I mean death if you are a Muslim IOI
