If Jesus is going to return to save his people, what is he waiting for?

Question

People have been saying for centuries that "God/Jesus will return soon" and restore the earth to a state of paradise.

The population of the earth is now growing almost exponentially, and the vast majority of these new souls are being born in non-Christian, closed off countries like China, so through no fault of their own, they have almost no chance to hear the word of Christ.

With so many new non-Christian people being born everyday, the overall state of mankinds spirituality is tending towards less and less Christianity. Right now, Catholics are outnumbered by other faiths 3:1, and soon it will be 4:1, then 5:1, and so on. The sheer number of rapid births make it virtually impossible to spread Jesus's teachings fast enough, no matter how many missionaries there are.

If Jesus was going to return to save "his people" what the heck is he waiting for? The longer he waits, the less Christians there will be on earth, and the more innocent people will die unsaved.

2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

2 Peter 3:3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.

Mt 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

It doesn't say preached to every person, but preached in all the world. You need to study the Bible more closely. And it is being preached in China, Benny Hinn has been over there many times, not that I care for some of the things he does, but never the less, he has been over there preaching.

Sounds like you are fulfilling the words of God to me. I am ready, are you? I hear this question more and more these days.

Good question, God is a God of Law and Science. He cannot, and will not come back until certain prophesy is fulfilled. Read Revelation.
As for China, I lived there for two years from the age of 11-13. Unlike the West, they're culture does not seem to revolve around sex and rock and roll. Although I don't believe their politics-communism is Godly i/e sending second babies to die in orphanages, quite like concentration camps, only for babies!! powerless to protect and handle themselves, I have seen this first hand! because of the one-child policy... Maybe they will be immune from the judgement that is to come upon the earth....

I think he's probably waiting for a huge world war to come that may devistate billions of people or maybe for when the sun grows into the red giant and burns planet earth!

No one knows when Jesus will come. Only God knows, and we really don't even need to be concerned. God knows when the time is right, and what that time is the right time, rest assured, Jesus will come.

Personally, I think Jesus' coming will be within the next 100 years. I agree with you, that there are so many people on earth who don't believe in Christ, and that is a shame. But all of us have free will and choose whether to believe or not to believe.

We need to just have faith.

He seems to be waiting for us to utterly destroy ourselves, until then we are on our own...

I visited one future of our world in which he had returned, our world had succeeded in destroying itself through ecological collapse followed by a global biological / chemical / nuclear / kinetic war. The initiators of this all-out war realized they could not survive and decided to take out anyone they thought stood a chance of surviving.

Christ appeared to begin the process of reclaiming the world from ruin and restore the dead to life. He initiated disciples to teach them how to create the miracles that would restore the land, seas, air and people. The disciples taught others in turn. I left before I could see the work fairly begun and returned to this world to tell the story.

First why do people call Catholics. Christians Catholics repent their sins to a priest. say prayers to Mary mother of God. The bible says there is only one way to the Father!! and its not through a Catholic priest. It is through Jesus Christ. By repenting from your sins and putting your trust and faith in Jesus Christ. It is between you and God not you the priest and God. AND you have it all wrong. Jesus will come back for his people those who have repented and put their faith in him and then there will be the 7 yrs of tribulation. The anti-christ will reign and bring about piece (for 21/2 yrs anyway) He will have a 7 yr peace treaty. and the world will be lulled by him. God will poor out his wrath on the earth. and then there will be peace.

Interesting question. Sometimes I wonder why God had to send Jesus here at all. I mean, if he wanted to save us, couldn't he figure out some way to do it other than sending his own son down here to die a horrible death on the cross?

And what exactly was he saving us from anyway? That's another thing I've always wondered.
