There seems to be a massive range of the concept of 'Christianity' on this board.

The real characteristics of a Christian should be evidenced in the fruits of the Spirit - how they live their lives.

Galatians 5:22
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,

A true Christian is one who actively practices the techings of Jesus. ALL of His teachings... Love thy enemy, turn the other cheek... If you do it unto the least of these, ye have done it unto me. Those that practice this are the ONLY true Christians.

Unfortunately, those who do this can be counted in the dozens at best. The majority of those professing to be Christians, have no idea what it means to be a true Christian.

The problem has always been that people practice a great deal of religion... but damned little Christianity!!

I suppose that the short answer (the real characteristics) is embodied in what Jesus called the two greatest commandments:

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and mind and strength

Love your neighbour as yourself.

However, the extent to which each of us shows these characteristics will vary - since which of us is perfect ? Not me.

Hope this helps.

Summing up a Christian for me is simple, forgiveness through acceptance.
The real characteristics of a true Christian are this: James 1:27 "Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this "To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.'"

Hell and damnation all the way.without it there would be no love of jesus to bumble on about.A christian is someone who uses religion as a crutch for all lifes trials and tribulations, and tells thier uninterested neighbours all about it.

All who come to God in The Way He prescribes will receive His free gift of Salvation. Those become of The Church of which Jesus The Christ is The Head. These are those who are of The True Christian Faith. Only those of The Church will enter Heaven.

all of those who reject God can expect to be rejected by God...that is Hell and Damnation. God dose not Damn any one. The individual make the decesion to reject God and damns themself by doing so.

Hell and damnation are a part of Christianity; they are the flip side of those that reject the free gift Christ offers to ALL who will come to Him. One cannot merely preach a one-sided Gospel; that's as much a heresy as to deny the deity of Christ. He is not all love; He is RIGHTEOUS. And for those that reject Him; He will Judge them righteously!

both go hand in hand, both things pertain to christianity however it isn't profitable in any sense to try convert people by the hell and brimstone threats.........to know jesus is to know christianity. the best way to know him is to know the gospels. then to be a better christian usse these teachings, use the book of acts, romans, hebrews etc......all are usefull for our salvation. to be christian is to love god and love your neigbor as you love yourself. let other churches handle things the way they see fit and do the same for all others. there is not much point squabbling over the differences let us all be joyfull brothers and sisters in christ.

Christians are made up of saints and sinners. Sometimes we are saints other times we are sinners. Because we sin, we need Jesus to free us from the bondage of sin so that, by the grace we get from the 7 Sacraments of the Church, we can be more strong in resisting the temptation to sin.

The Apostle Paul said we have to be all things to all
people, so some might choose Life!
Sometimes we need to be kind and understanding.
Sometimes we might have to use Tuff Luv, and shock
someone into the reality of how they're hurting themselves.
