We have recently added a new cat to our household and my old female has begun peeing anywhere. This is totally out of her character. Could she be going into a mock-heet, though she's been fixed?

She is probably not using the litter pan because of the scent of the other cat. My cat has quit using her pan, I have even tried two separate pans, but still she refuses to pee in the same pan as the other cat.

No, she's jealous and trying to get your attention. Females especially are very territorial about their houses and their people, and when she sees you bringing a new cat into the house, she thinks you're replacing her. Try one of the sprays you can get at pet stores, to discourage her from peeing and to block the smell of where she peed so she won't go there again. If it's on your carpet, I think there's also something you can use to wash and deodorize the carpet. Also make sure to keep her cat box clean and separate from the other cat's box. They should each have their own litter box, bedding, dishes, etc. at least till the female gets used to the new one. Make sure you give her extra attention, cuddles, maybe some treats or a new toy. It takes time and patience.

You mention that she's old; is it possible she's having urinary problems? Check with your vet.

We have had experience with this type of situation at our house several times, and I have to tell you that it doesn't always work out. But more often than not, we have had success getting the cats to get along. Good luck!

Last year my beautiful Manx cat Theodore went out for the evening and never came back. I love cats and the house didn't feel the same without one, so I picked up Lola from a rescue centre. She was very frightened and would pee all over the house. I found Cat Spraying No More on the internet and the techniques worked almost immediately. I haven't had a problem with Lola since. Amazing!

Can't stop your cat peeing in the house? Then worry no more...

My husband and I had a cat that in her old age, started peeing outside of the litter box and we found out she had diabetes. Not saying your cat has this problem but that's one of the signs. Signs of diabetes is urinating outside of litter box. There's other signs like drinking lots of water, excessive eating and mood swings but of course cats are known for their mood swings :) Since she's an older cat and urinating outside her litter box it might be wise to take her to the vet and see what they say?
Also, are the 2 cats using the same litter box? If so, it could be as simple as the older one isn't happy having another cat using her litter box so she goes outside of it.

Honey she is probably jealous and is making sure the new one knows that this is his or her house. or it could have developed a urinary infection. I would talk to a vet and get a check on your cat. if it is a urinary tract infection , it could die if not treated right away. Good luck with your baby's.

she's probably jealous of the new kitty...have they bonded yet? or are they hissing and avoiding each other? Maybe separate them for a couple of weeks..and feed them together so they can get used to each other....and keep the interaction to a few minutes of supervised activity...lavish love on your first kitty....eventually all will calm down...maybe if things dont..have first kitty checked for urinary track infection...actually..you might want to do this now..because those can get bad quickly...

She might have a severe bladder infection. Take her to a vet if she doesn't stop.
