Yes a great many smokers are. Infact if you go around a construction site where 80% smoke you will see some guys as strong and physically fit as anyone can be exercising.
Many of them are young and many of them are 50 and up. Most iron workers and welders are strong and in great shape until eventually the lifestyle alone wiht smoking and boose gets them down. Most 50 year old iron workers are as physically fit as most college kids.

Yes, of course. Smokers can be as physically fit as anybody else, if you're using a definition that is based on the effects/benefits of exercise alone. Even extremely overweight people can be "physically fit" in terms of results from fitness tests (measuring the heart rate while at rest and at work, testing the time it takes them to run a certain distance, etc. etc.).
Smokers can even be pretty healthy for most of their lives. But it almost always catches up to them at the end!

I am both. I don't hack when i run. In fact, looking at human lungs in med school, you can't tell a difference between smokers and non-smokers. You can, however tell a difference between city and country folk. City folk have far uglier lungs than smokers, believe it or not.
Chain smokers can live well into their 90's and beyond. But when you put one person in a sealed room full of smokers, and another person in a room with a single gas motor, who will likely die within the hour?

Yes. I have heard of many smokers that are in good physical condition. They are not heavy, pack a day chain smokers though. My friend smokes and has a 6 pack and works out like crazy..

A person who smokes can NEVER be as fit as if they didn't smoke. Nor can the people around you be as fit as if you didn't smoke.
Really fit people are those who have the will power to become non-smokers.
Intelligent, thinking people prefer to hang on to their money rather than making the cigarette producers wealthy at their expense.

Probably not. Aside from it being hard to breathe then, smoking puts on some weight, and you have that little feeling of "gimme a cigerette" and I... I wonder if that can turn into depression. Cuz you don't exersize when your depressed.
P.S. I LOVE Harry Potter too! That IS what HP stands for, right. Go to www.baddobby.wordpress.com and click icons up by the top, and some of them are SOOOO funny.

Physically fit on the outside. But their insides are the big problem. I used to smoke and work out every day, but I couldn't run very far, so I quit smoking and kept working out. It made a big difference.

If you're young, exercise, eat right and have a genetically good make-up physically, and if you smoke in moderation, you can keep in shape. Always remember though that somewhere down the line you will most likely have to quit. With years, the accumulation of cigarette smoking will begin to cause problems, and you can always be in better shape without them.
