I am looking for a fun restaurant in Chicago, where my two children 12 and 14 and I can eat at, that is near either the Field Museum or the Science and Technology Museum.

There is a Corner Bakery inside the Field museum that serves some good sammiches. I would suggest that museum over the Science and Industry Museum. The Museum of Science and Industry is more for younger kids.

There is also a television show on WTTW Chicago's PBS station called "Check, Please!" which features restaurants in and around the Chicago area. They had one show where children recommended their fav restaurants. I will include a link. Though a 12 and 14 year old might not appreciate 'kiddy' meals, that is sort of an in between age. Be careful not to embarass them.

Might I suggest Ed Debevic's? It is sort of childish so be sure to discuss it with your kid's first, but I've heard it is a humorous restaurant for the whole family.

There is nothing within walking distance of either museum. The Museum of Science and Industry is particularly bad for people from out of town.
I would suggest that you hop a cab to the River North neighborhood.
Ed Debevic's and Gino's East are Chicago institutions located across the street from one another on Wells. Debevic's caters to kids and has waiters with an 'attitude' to create a fun environment. Gino's encourages you to write/carve your name in the walls.
If they want to do something a little more grown-up, try the Hard Rock Cafe. It's also good for families, but does not try to spoon feed the fun to the kids.
If you need to stick close to the Museum, eating at the Museum is your best bet.

The Ultimate Kid destination in Chicago is Ed Debevics or Gino's East for the reasons already stated. Kids also like Portillos as it has their kind of food and their are lots of chicago Gangster pictures and paraphenalia on the walls. Kids also like Fogo De Chau but it is pricey. Gauchos come around to your table with huge cuts of meat and carve off a piece onto your plate.

Whatever you are looking for, Chicago definitly has it.

Joy Yee Noodle in Chinatown is fun. The food is great. They even have bubble teas.
