I think it does. I was taking acidophilus for few weeks and somehow it made my kidneys hurt. That's probably not typical for everybody though.

Bacteroides fragillis can be an intestinal pathogen, not necessarily normal gut flora. Are you concerned that taking acidophilus is going to increase "bad" gut flora?
The probiotics may replace part of your normal gut flora and may be helpful if you have a gastrointestinal illness. Probiotics should not increase pathogenic flora.

Hey, Oolesa (sp?) I am wondering if you were having gas and intestinal pain that presented itself as kidney pain?
