What does "salam alikom" mean in Arabic?

are u learning Arabic?
I'm not a Arab but know a little.
salamon alaykom is the true speling.
and salam maens:hello
but bcoz in Arabic they signal the conscience they say alaykom that means upon u so they say
سلام علیکم
and alaykom is plural.
if u be single conscience become akayk
and two person = alaykoma
but usualy to everyone say salamon alaykom
and in reply u say :
salamon alaykom va rahmatollah

(Salam Alikom) or (Assalamu Alaikum) or (As salaamu Alaikum)
means
"Peace be upon you."
the word Islam comes from salaam, meaning peace
If sombody says you this you can reply by saying
(Wa Alaykum As Salam)
which means
"and on you be peace"
Thanks for asking

Salam = Peace
Alai- = on
-kum = you(all)

So, the entire phrase means "Peace be upon you (all)"
