I have 2 German Shepherds that I have had since thay were newborns. My male is 4 years old and weighs in at 91 lbs. My female is 6 years old and wieghs around 85 lbs. I had their parents and their grandparents.
A vet told me that the very best puppy food for a large breed puppy is IAMS. He said that most puppy food is meant for small breeds that mature at a MUCH FASTER RATE than large breed puppies. LARGE BREED PUPPIES NEED TO BE FED THE IAMS BRAND OF PUPPY FOOD for large breed puppies TILL THEY ARE TWO (2) YEARS OLD. THEY ARE STILL GROWING ALL OF THE TWO YEARS.
By far the most important thing that you can do for your puppy is to teach it the basic commands (sit, stay, come, down, heal, load up - for when you want them ot get into a vehicle on command) Mine also know the commands of back-back up( if we are in a tight spot and they can't turn around), and the command of OUT. I tell them OUT if I want them out of an area, out of the house or what ever. My dogs MUST SIT BEORE I PUT THEIR FOOD BOWL DOWN. It is kind of funny, because their buts hit the ground automatically when they know they are going to get fed. Also I VERY MUCH discourage my dogs from jumping on me. I just don't like it, plus you have less of a chance of hurting you. Another thing that you must do is socialize your puppy. They need to learn that there are other dogs and other animals out in the world. Let other people pet your puppy, this way they know that other people can be trusted. You need to get the puppies used to children, babies, the noises of running a household. These include a vacuum, a dryer, a dishwasher if you have one, a blow dryer and other things that you use. Praise the puppy for not being afraid of the noise. SOMETHING ELSE THAT IS VERY IMPORTANT IS THE ISSUE OF FOOD. THE PUPPY NEED TO KNOW THAT IF YOU NEED TO REMOVE THE FOOD BOWL THAT THAT IS O.K. DON'T TEASE THE PUPPY THOUGH.
As far as tricks, it is important to work with the puppy for small increments of time (say 15 to 20 minures at a time). I think the best way to see if your puppy likes a ball is to just roll the ball on the floor and see how he/she reacts to the ball. Some will go retrieve it , while othr dogs have the take it or leave it attitude.
Start teaching the puppy to sit by taking a treat and making a fist around the treat. Let the puppy smell it, but don't give him/her the treat. Make them sit be holding the treat up a little higher than their nose, their rear end will have to sit down in order to reach the treat. Also say the word "sit" when you are doing this. It will reinforce the command. Always praise the puppy for a job well done.
To get the puppy to a "down", have the puppy sit first, then while holding the treat, bring your hand down and say the command "down".
To get it to roll over , first go into a "sit", then "down" and then just simply start rolling the puppy over all the while saying "roll over. Make the exercise fun. This way the puppy will like to do these tricks.
To make the puppy "shake", simply take their front paw and start shaking it all the while saying the command "shake".
Hopefuly this is of some help to you and your new puppy.
There are two books about German Shepherds by the Monks of New Skete that are excellent. The names of the books are The Art of Raising a Puppy and How to Be Your Dog's Best Friend.

I have my 10 year old german shepard since she was 7 weeks old, she learned how to sit and lay down the first couple of days I had her. She learned all kinds of tricks. She gets all the dog bowls when its dinner time, she pokes my lamp when the alarm goes off in the am, she can open doors, and she always makes sure all the dogs go to bed by nine. LOl she really does. They are so easy to train, and if you train him or her with love they will never bite anyone unless they are protecting you. have alot of patience and love for your dog.

German Sherpherd???
German Shepherd.

If you've had to give ALL THOSE ANIMALS AWAY, you'd better take this dog to obedience training. Don't have somebody else train it, train it yourself, with assistance.

Also, get books from the library about dog training. They even have ones specifically for German Shepherds.

Good Luck...

did you give all of those dogs away or just the pups? if you gave all of those dogs away then you need to find something else to do tomorrow besides go get this pup. have the dog spayed or neutered, as that will help prevent many of the traits you say you do not want. as for tricks teach it manners, sit, stay, heel and come when called. teach it to sit still for praise, etc....then and only then move onto fun things for you to do with your dog. do not get another dog until this pup is under control. and if you gave away all of those dogs listed, then just plain out DO NOT GET ANOTHER DOG EVER!

Yes, Dog is good animal, why you don't want to adopt it any more? Just go to ask your neighours how it could disturd him? You have right to keep pet, and i am sure this dog won't disturb your neighours too much. If you are not at home, you can put your dog on a room and lock this room, that is ok.

If you have to get another dog, take it to obedience school. Spay or neuter it.

Why are you getting all these dogs and then giving them away???
