To stay motivated you should be doing something so you can be happier and more peaceful. Then that peace and happiness will motivate you to get more and more. This is what you are alive for. See site below to learn more about yourself and what you are looking for.

Count your blessings, Remember that there is always someone out there that is worse off than you. Speak positively to yourself and keep going. Every morning when you wake up thank the Lord for another day and every night do the same. Life is wonderful when you have meaning and purpose.

As a person consistently meditates,
"Mindfulness Meditation" that is, Motivation that
is very necessary to succeed, be happy and to have peace in life is always present !!
Mindfulness Meditation is very easy to learn !!
And it has been proven to be Very Effective by Scientists, Medical Doctors, & Cognitive Behavioral Therapists throughout the world !
A person need only practice Mindfulness Meditation 15 min. a day. Some of the proven results are an increase in cognitive thinking skills
increased memory, focus, & concentration, increased motivation and self-control, alertness,
increased intelligence, positive attitude, patience
positive self-esteem, increased awareness, an increased disciplinary life, wisdom, understand-
ing, tolerance, compassion - that is Empathy,
loving-kindness, and Peace of Mind, to name only a few! This has been already proven by Scientists, Medical Doctors, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapists throughout the world.
In Mass. Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn PhD (one who has proven Mindfulness Meditation to be Very Effective) has his practice which is helping people from all walks of life. For people that can not afford to see him, to gain some perspective, he has written some books, and audio CD books. An excellent book he has out is called, "Coming to Our Senses" (by: Dr. Jon
Kabat-Zinn PhD). Dr. Andrew Weil is also another excellent author.
Another excellent author, who also travels throughout the world giving motivational talks, and sells some very helpful books is
Thubten Chodron. She has a book out called,
"Working with Anger". This book, in a very non
critical, non judgemental way, explains and gives many successful, wholesome alternatives to anger (as well as to anxiety, depression, worry, & stress)!! It has sold over 28 million copies. It's been proven to be that successful.
She talks about the effectiveness of mindfulness meditation in her book as well.
I would never recommend books to anyone which I have not read, and practice daily myself.
Mindfulness Meditation need only be practiced 15 min. a day to produce the above proven to be effective results. It honestly is easy to learn. It's very similiar to the practice of the Mindfulness of Breathing. Nothing weird or creepy about it. A person is very relaxed, happy, and at peace after practicing mindfulness meditation. It has been around for over 2,500 years, but most people, especially in the Western world, have only heard of it, for about only 30 years now. Check out those 2 books I suggested. It is worth the 15 min a day. Considering we have 24 hours in a day, what is 15 minutes - to give to this helpful practice for oneself.
From an R.N. - with a Master's Degree.
YOU ASKED A VERY GOOD QUESTION !!

Well, I was diagnosed with depression when I was 18 and I still have it 5 years later. What gets me going is my career in law enforcement. There's a certain high (that's almost as good as sex, mind you) when you help save someone's life. That's what keeps me from killing myself.

I think about the heating bill, the water bill, the overdue taxes and it gets me motivated at least to get to work.
