I started working at a restaurant and the next week I was very weak and sick... my throat was sore and I started coughing....it got worse but it was in my eye too...and the eye globe was swollen...I haven't been feeling too good and that is not normal for me because viruses or colds don't really affect me...I have or had? good immune system. Ciuld it be something related to washing dishes at work?

It's much more likely you're just being exposed to more germs because you're being exposed to more PEOPLE by working in the restaurant. But be sure that while you are handling other people's plates and forks/spoons/etc. that you don't touch your eyes, nose, or mouth until you've washed your hands thoroughly. You could definitely be coming into contact with germs on the dishes (though if you just keep your hands away from your face while you collect and wash them, you should be fine).

i think you should visit your doctor soon. due to the amount of dishes you are handling per pay which have been used by how many people ( i just left my job at a restaurant doing the same thing). alot of people come in and out of food places with all kinds of illnesses. you think you should feel safe in the workplace but alot of the time your not. take care!
