You should make an appointment with a dentis to find out what the problem is. Some times it's due to work, there are some jobs where they are exposed to metal dust, and the dust stays in the gums, and it's called metal poisoning, or it may be due to some medication, or it may simply be melanine in his gums (this is quite normal in some people).
