Whew, I almost wrote them all in again, lol. You gotta start somewhere. I am sure if God was giving these out today there would be a few...thousand...more commandments.

There are 613 laws in the Old Testament. If you don't understand why the 10 commandments are in the Bible you should go to a good church or read the Bible. The law (10 commandments) were put in place to show people they are sinners and in need of a Savior. If you break one of the laws you are worthy of Hell; thus, the Christ is needed because everyone is guilty and worthy of Hell. He paid the price for your sin. Also the Bible speaks against many of these sins.

Wow, most nonbelievers are baffled that we don't take them seriously.
Sexual immorality is mentioned more in the Bible than love. There is more to living like a Christian than the ten commandments. There is a whole TESTAMENT on more than the 10 comm.
Adultery is more than cheating on your spouse! It covers all sexual immortality. Lusting is equal to adultery. So YA THINK rape, child molestation, etc would fall under it! Do I need to draw it for you?
Slavery wasn't a sin b/c it wasn't looked at the same way we see it today. People paid off debts that way and eventually worked their way up. Kind of like employees today only they worked for food and shelter. Jesus preached about treating them kindly, showing forgivness, and even erasing the debt much like He erased ours.

To make a long story short, the ten commandments came into being during the OT (old testament). In the NT (new testament) when Jesus came onto the scene, He said that the greatest commandment was to love your neighbors as you love yourselves, and to love GOD with all of your heart, mind body and spirit. Throughout the entire NT, those sins that you named were all covered. You just have to read the entire Bible. And more than once!

Do you think sex is a sin? I think it is oe of the best aspects of our species....
as for the bible, well some sex is a sin...
The full ten are as follows,
1. You shall have no other Gods but me. I guess he does not like competition, God is saying that this is a monoploy, and he is the big cheese.
2. You shall not make for yourself any idol, nor bow down to it or worship it. Just in case you did not understand rule number 1. he repeats it again in different words. No little sttues (and that goes for the Catholich Church lol)
3. You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God. Basicly this was in reply to the response he got from the first rule, 'Oh God' - so he made using his name as a swear word a sin....
4. You shall remember and keep the Sabbath day holy. Ok so I am giving you one day off per week, and I want you to waste it in my church, and it going to cost you, for I am going to get the priest to pass around a little plate.
5. Respect your father and mother. I have brain-washed your parents into believing in me, so you must listen to them when they try to do the same to you.
6. You must not kill. I need every soul I can get to fill up the collection plate.
7. You must not commit adultery. So, no sex outside of marriage. Adultery is having sexual intercourse with someone other than your husband or wife when you are married, or having sex with a person who is married to someone else. Marriage has to be carried out in the church, and a huge fee is charged, it a real money spinner.
8. You must not steal. Espically from the collection plate.
9. You must not give false evidence against your neighbour. So you are not allowed to tell tall tales about the jerk next door just because he dosent cut down the hedge.
10. You must not be envious of your neighbour's goods. You shall not be envious of his house nor his wife, nor anything that belongs to your neighbour. Not only can you not lie about him, you cant have fantasy's about his daughter, wife or pet sheep.
Since most girls were married at thirteen, the idea of child molestation was not discussed in the tents of Judea, abortion was not possible, as they did not have the medical knowlege about the human body at this point in history, indeed many women died during childbirth. Rape was only rape if it occured out of marriage... and everybody had a slave, so they kept that one quite...

The ten commandments name the principal sins. All that you have listed fall under one or more of these principal sins.
It is a perfect statement of the law in principal and has never been improved on.
It is so concise and yet so comprehensive.
I am sorry that you cannot see that.

the ten commandments were just starter laws for the Isrealites.
Leviticus and Deuteronomy are a whole book of laws. They cover topics that you mentioned and other health concerns for that time period. When Jesus came he fulfilled the laws and established his own along with the Christain leaders in the first century (Paul, Peter and John). Its in there just need to look.

Why isn't fornication a guaranteed right in the Bill of Rights? If men bore the children, abortion rights would be there.
