Usually wait it out, but it depends on the type of poisoning. Sometimes you can't. For example: if you eat poisonous mushrooms, you can't quite wait. Manycan turn your organs into liquid.
From source: You will usually recover from the most common types of food poisoning within a couple of days. The goal is to make you feel better and avoid dehydration. Drink any fluid (except milk or caffeinated beverages) to replace fluids lost by diarrhea and vomiting. Children should be given an electrolyte sold in drugstores. Don't eat solid foods until the diarrhea has passed, and avoid dairy, which can worsen diarrhea.
If you have diarrhea and are unable to drink fluids (for example, due to nausea or vomiting), you may need medical attention and intravenous fluids. This is especially true for young children. If you take diuretics, you need to manage diarrhea carefully. Talk to your doctor -- you may need to stop taking the diuretic while you have the diarrhea. Medications should NEVER be stopped or changed without discussing with your doctor and getting specific instructions.
For the most common causes of food poisoning, your doctor would NOT prescribe antibiotics. Antibiotics can actually prolong diarrhea and keep the organism in your body longer.
If you have eaten toxins from mushrooms or shellfish, you will need to be seen right away. The emergency room doctor will take steps to empty out your stomach and remove the toxin.

If your symptoms aren't serious, you don't need to see a doctor. Vomiting and having diarrhea are your body's natural defense mechanisms to getting rid of the bacteria causing the symptoms. So don't take antiemetics or antidiarrheal medication. Try to drink water or liquids high in electrolytes, such as Gatorade or Pedialyte, so you don't get dehydrated. If your symptoms become worse and/OR last more than two days, I highly recommend that you see a doctor.

if its very bad...go to the ER, otherwise do not take any anti-diahreals or anything to stop vomiting because you have to get the toxins out. but you have to be careful to watch out for dehydration. if your urine gets really dark, your lips get really dry, or your not producing any urine, your dehydrated and should seek medical help. so make sure you keep pushing those fluids.

Botulism can kill you. identity recommend urgent care or ER actually, fantastically if he cant save nutrition/fluids in his body because he can get extremely dehydrated, extremely quickly. Which motives a good worse difficulty. good success. :s
