That is so unfortunate when that happens. I know it's not usually the parents fault. Most often times, there is a chemical imbalance or it is part of some neurological disorder. Having a child with this disorder is so hard on it's own, nobody needs others judging to add to the turmoil. I wish you the best of luck. Please love your child a little more tonight.

Because our development is based on nature & nurture.

Studies have hinted that mental and emotional problems can be passed on down the family lines. Is it the child's fault that their genetically malfunctioned parents decided to breed? Of course not. Even though we have more than enough children stuffing the orphanges to see to it that humanity will survive, people still feel the need to make sure that their own genes are passed on. The honest truth is that this simply isn't the case. Not everyone should have kids.

As for nurture, parents get blamed for emotional disorders because it was their responsibilty to provide a healthy environment for the child to be raised in. Often this doesn't happen, and the child is brought up into situtations that stunt their development in some way. By time anyone notices that something is seriously wrong, the parents' comfortable denial "Nothing's wrong with my kid, they're perfect, just like me," has turned into "What are they teaching kids in college these days, my child's become a monster!" Early warning signs get dismissed and the disorder continues to grow.

Of course neither of these could be the case, the gods might simply look down and say "That one, give her body dismorphia and anxiety issues. Make sure everyone around her blames her parents."

Anyways, if you're the parent of a child with an emotional disorder, I hope you continue to love, respect and support them just like a "normal" kid. Think less of blame and more of solutions.

No doubt because with parents is where a child spends most of his or her time, sometimes of course, false assumptions are made due to this.
My feeling is,however, that we are massively affected by the cheaply produced profit making food we are
encouraged to buy and eat. Additives, preservatives and genetically modified foods should probably be blamed rather than parents in many many cases.

Because a child's personality and most of the emotional issues they will have in life are already formed by age 5.

It's typically much easier to blame someone than to accept that such things happen. A person would rather believe that their friends raised their child wrong and it was their fault instead of coming to the realization that his/her own child could have just as easily developed the same problem.

It's like when you read about someone getting mugged. It's more calming to think the victim did something wrong than to think the attacker was intelligent and strong enough to overpower them, and maybe you.

I think its the nature vs nurture theory, because it is so hard to find medical reasons for emotional disorders, naature is cast out right off the bat and nurture is the easiest way to explain it...although that does not make it right or okay to do.

Because parents are responsible for the child. If problem is bad raising, the problem is probably likely parents fault.

If problem is genetic, nobody's fault but parent is responsible.

Because oftentimes how they treat the child leads to it. Not always, but oftentimes.
