Cos most people NEED something to believe in and religion is a very clever one - almost impossible to prove it is bull!
The real reason for religion is social control - without it the powers that be have nothing to scare the little people with, especially poor countries, where they literally have nothing to lose.

For some people, religion is nothing more than a hobby or perhaps just a multiple choice question. For others, it's a major facet of our life. I care deeply for mine and it's a serious thing to me. That doesn't mean I get all but hurt if someone talks ill of my beliefs, I just let them be entitled to their beliefs as well. Ultimately though, religion is a serious part of my life because it is a major part of my life. We can't trivialize that which we live for, though you may trivialize that for which another lives. Of course that is just a matter of opinion and personal morality.

Anything habitual becomes , in time , important. Religious conditioning is a long term habit, an opiate as Marx called it, and a psychosis as Freud described it. It is unimportant which religion we are born into, choice is decided for us by society and family. Truth and correctness comes with ALL religions.

Religion is one of the primary human motivations. Understanding what motivates people allows you to control/manipulate them.

This is serious business for people in power, or who desire to be in power.

I don't!
My religion eclipses all others. And you can drop it/find it at will.
It's based on pure logic and the power of the human brain, and is scientifically the basis of all religions!

Because religion kills folk dead. I would love to just ignore it, but it motivates people to hate and kill. Richard Dawkins is right, it's time to get angry with religion, and not just Islam.
