does a tooth pulling hurt more than a root canal or is the crown or bridge worse?

i have had all 3 prosedures done, but they dont hurt at all with todays medicians. so if u have to have one of them done, dont worry,. and they will give u meds for any disconfort after.

Root canals dont hurt too bad, just very time consuming (Dds has to stop work every once in a while to take an xray to see how far down the root has been cleared). The whole pulling tooth thing, arghh, I dread that. I had all 4 wisdom teeth pulled and was knocked out, the pain afterwords was worse then getting a c-section. I would imagin crown work wouldnt hurt so bad since the tooth is already dead, and bridge work, couldn't tell ya.

i've had this procedure done on a few teeth and a few weeks ago i had it done on a back tooth and oi know what you mean the pain is TERRIBLE it is almost worse than child birth !!! it could be that you have an infection and the antibiotics that your dentist gave you before the tratment either were not strong enough or the were given too early ,sometimes what can happen is that you can get what is known as a phantom abcess( this is what happened me a few weeks ago ) and it is very sore ,i would go back and see the dentist before 3 days though , ask if you can have an emergancy appointment,there is no point in suffering for another 3 days if you can be seen in the morning ,it is extremly common to be in a lot of pain after this procedure but once it becomes unbearable you need to see about it,i made an emergancy appointment and was dreading it ,but he gave my some more antibiotics and corsydol mouthwash and i was fine within a few days.

well, generally speaking an extraction(tooth pulling) hurts more than root canal...Having said this,there are 2 exceptions to this:first is that if you have a tooth which is loose or very easy to pull out,it actually doesnt feel anything(maybe a bit but almost negligable)...and secondly as compared to root canal,tooth extraction is a procedure of very small duration.root canals tend to go on to 2-3 appointments,thus if you have problem in opening your mouth for longer time than root canal could be tedious.but root canal is not in itself as hurtfull as the other(and dont be afraid of instr used in root canal because they cannot cause any harm...)...so to summarise root canal is less hurtful but lengtheir procedure than tooth extraction...but believe me,if you have a good dentist it may be possible that you may feel no pain at all in either of treatments,so dont worry just go on with what your dentist thinks is better for your condition...
and crown or bridge donot have any discomfort as comp to the above procedures

I think preparing a tooth for a crown is the worst. I've had teeth pulled, root canals. Worst of all was gum surgery.

I AM A DENTAL ASSISTANT FOR 30 YEARS PULLING A TOOTH WILL HURT WORSE THAN A ROOT CANAL BUT NOT FOR LONG. , BUT THE SPACE LEFT WILL CAUSE DRIFTING OF YOUR OTHER TEETH AND IF YOU GET A ROOT CANAL YOU WILL NEED A CROWN OR BRIDGE WHICH IS NO WORSE THAN A FILLING

I had a root drilled,split and filled once it has been the worst pain i have experienced ever and that was with numbing injections too.
tooth pulling is relativly painless in the grand scheme of things.
At this time i have a real bad toothache which throbs,i must see a dentist soon but it's christmas soon they will all be booked up, paracetamol works for now.
The best thoing about visiting the dentist is reading the Readers Digest jokes page or the, "LIfe's like that"page.
I have collected many,"Giles" annuals from dentist waiting rooms.

tooth pulling because you have to be awake while they break the tooth off from your jaw TRUST ME I'VE HAD 4 REMOVED OWWW!!!! it is much more painful than even breaking your arm or leg the spot also bleeds for 1 week + the others hurt like h*** but atleast your knocked out for the operation!
