Why do we have to say happy holidays instead of merry christmas? if some people dont believe in Christ then why do they celebrate it and then get offended if told "merry christmas"? It was the birth of Christ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If i may say your a beautiful woman. Now for the question, I agree with what your saying. I don't understand why some people have to sit on the fence if you know what i mean. In other words without Judging why do people have two different attitudes at the same time and i know that i like Merry Christmas better. Except Christmas, Happy Holidays is alright, like Halloween is. So i agree with you.

i have no idea. most people get uptight because christmas is supposed to be the birth of christ but they found out that christ wasnt born on the day christmas is. and also the thing in SeaTac Airport that was onthe news where a rabbi complaned because the "holiday" tree's didnt have a star of david or a manorah. so they took down every tree then the rabbi changes his story to make himself look good. i think that around this time a year we should focas more on what were going to do like get presants or get all your work done for the night because there is a overflow in jobs. (like the jewelry business) instead of stressing over decorations. its stressful around this time a year as it is.

if i don't know the person and it's a business level and it's a generic wish - i do say enjoy your holidays. however if i know the person, or am in a personal setting, i say - merry Christmas - however if i know they are Jewish i wish them a happy chanaukah!

in my personal life it's Merry CHristmas all the way however in a business setting holidays covers the multitide including new years. often i'll just say - enjoy the holiday season.

Its the biggest load of crap, second to this politician or somebody using the Qoran to swear in. THAT is bull too, but yeah, America just holds its buttcheeks open for outsiders that want to give it to us by making things harder because they are here. I don't believe in God. And especially not the God Christians believe in. But It would never even OCCOUR to me to be offended by the words, "Merry Christmas," and I think anyone who IS needs to shut the hell up.

You don't HAVE to say either. And some people do not believe Christmas is the birth of Christ since the Bible indicates that the weather was mild, not cold, when Jesus was born.

Some people just are ignorent to others religions, and feel that if they are rude to others beliefs they will make them say happy Ckhannakkkugh or something, they should just be happy that they're getting a holiday greeting at all.

Actually it was the birth of Mithras. This is a pagan holiday as well. I am not sure of Santa's religion, but what if he is Jewish?
