Nuclear weapons were never the reason... the premise was WMD... such as chemical, biological, and or nuclear weapons... Iraq hasn't advanced enough to have Nukes... they did however have lots and lots of chem and bio wpns... chem and bio agents as well as the means to weaponize them... and there you go.

Do you recall the Russian Ambassadorial Convoy that got caught in the crossfire while evacuating from Iraq? That convoy was not searched.

Its common knowledge that the Russians aided the Saddam regime with technical know how on bio-agents and weapons of mass destruction - and don't expect the Russians to admit it. Papers were found spelling out Russia's involvement with certain weapons. For some odd reason no one made issue of it - and I find this utterly amazing.

No search made on the rather large Russian convoy - which may have very well of been carrying off key evidence. Where did they book too? A place spelled, S-Y-R-I-A. From there the weapons and related materials were dispersed - much of it in Iran, and explains why the Iranian President has been boasting about wiping Israel off the map - using weapons of mass destruction from Saddam's cache as well as with the technical aid from Russia AND China.

Proof? All I could prove is the Convoy was there, was caught in the crossfire - went unsearched. Why unsearched? Diplomatic Immunity. We nor any other members of the Coalition could lay a kit glove on their trucks, vans or cars

FYI - Nuclear Weapons were never the issue. Just WMDs (weapons of mass destruction) like bio-weapons, etc.

First off, check your grammar- it should be "were", not "was". And to the actual question- In 1981 Israeli jets bombed the Osiraq nuclear center in Iraq. The program it was running began in the 1960's, before Saddam. The Israeli's had intel the believed good enough to bomb over, but the have not declassified the exact information. There's your proof. Also we went to war over ALL WMD's, not just nuclear, which we know he had considering he used chemical weapons against Iran, Iraqi Kurds, and other minorities.

What really convinces me that they did not have any such weapons is the fact that the suicide bombers and the like haven't used any. If they existed, they would most certainly have been found and used by the various insurgencies by now.
