I finished taking flagyl 48 hours ago and would like to have a few beers but know that when this med is combined with alcohol you become violently sick. Is 48 hours long enough for the med to get out of my system?

48 hours should be enough, although I wouldn't recommend a drinking binge.
Not everybody is affected like that, by the way. One time when I was in school, I was on Flagyl for a GI infection; I drank a pitcher of beer while playing pool, and felt fine (at the time I didn't know I wasn't supposed to drink, but luckily I'm not one who reacts that way).

I would check with the doctor on that one. I know you really aren't supposed to drink with Flagyl, but since it's been two days it may be okay. But again, check with your doctor or call the advice nurse.
