If you are over 21 - bring a case of beer
If you're not then maybe an easy appetizer - I like to take a dish with cream cheese spread across the bottom, topped with a can of chili and covered in grated cheddar cheese - microwave until the cheeses melt and serve with tortilla chips. Or a case of pop.
My husband does card tournaments and he usually takes a case of beer.

I have never know a guy that didn't think these were awesome.
Take a Lil Smokey and wrap half a strip of good bacon around it. Roll in brown sugar and cook for 25 minutes at 375 or until the bacon looks done. Sprinkle more brown sugar over them immediately after they come out of the oven. These are great hot or at room temp.

12-14 guys, video games... Bring BEER! Otherwise a salad is most appropriate. like a potato salad or something. Otherwise i could let u into my secret snack dish: take a tub of philladelphia cream cheese and place it upsidown onto a plate, cover it with tai sweet chilli sauce. Combine this dip with plane corn chips and you have THE BEST snack food! It shall be forth known as "The Postman's Dip'n'crisp".

You show respect by not wanting to "steal the wife's thunder" - I applaud you. Maybe you'll stretch the respect a little more by asking her, "What can I bring?"
Beer seems to be the common vote, though you probably will have to make it 2 cases.
I wouldn't want them putting their greasy, grimy hands on Anything - but something tells me the guys probably don't care!

What ever you bring, it should not be sloppy as you don't want them getting cheese or BBQ sauce on the games or controllers. Here are some ideas:
cookies - choc chip, peanut butter, peanut butter w/hershey's kiss in the middle, sugar cookies w/mini m&m's
candy - peanut brittle, choc covered pretzels, fudge
other - rice krispie treats, magic cookie bars, homemade chex mix, trail mix

Since the wife is cooking, I wouldn't bring anything too filling. Munchies - like chips, pretzels & guacamole, devilled eggs.
